The parts you don't add don't cause you no trouble

And what did I find...

I couldn't resist so I made this

There was JUST enough of the OEM piece to get all the dimensions I needed!

Its not ready for prime time but it's close! If I can have it made in plastic that can take the heat I'll make a few.

I have a call into M&H to see if they still make and sell the Festoon Lamp holders for 67-69 Barracuda courtesy lamps.

UPDATE...

Looks like M&H does not sell only the Festoon lamp holder separately, below is their response to my inquiry:

"Thank you for the inquiry. We now offer the harness itself for the 67-69 Barracuda that goes to the courtesy light and fuel sender on 1967 (part 44129 $63.00) and just the courtesy light on 1968-1969 (part 41449 $47.00)...."

So maybe there is a market for just the Festoon lamp holder???

BTW I'm going to look into making an adapter to use a modern Festoon holder as the Festoon terminal of the 60's is probably is not available. I have a lens coming and HOPEFULLY there is the metal trim piece in the wrecking yard I'm headed to Wednesday, weather permitting. I know where several are in another yard BUT that yard thinks some of their parts are gold plated.

Speaking of Festoon Bulbs...

If you want to stay with incandescent... the 212-2 is a couple watts lower in power (based off the V & W on the packaging)

All 3 below are Sylvania brand

Also I'm getting really close, I MAY have found a source for the bulb holder terminals but it adds $10.00 to the price of the finished product.

Do you mean the plastic bulb holders?
No, I'm making the plastic bulb holders assuming I can get high heat plastics 3D printed, there is one that can go up to 400deg F.

I contacted M&H and they responded that they don't sell the plastic separate any longer and the harness is in the 40-60 range

I'm sourcing the metal terminals that actually hold the bulb.

OK gotcha, I did buy 4 of the bulb holders approx 2 yrs ago from them. $10 US apiece. I can't remember if they came with the metal ends or not.

I just installed a body harness from M&H on a 69 Barracuda and it came with those pieces installed on the wires, but they were white, unlike the old ones that we took out which were black like your new ones.

I had a thought...

If the Festoon holder terminals are too expensive... how about a PCB with the Festoon holders and spade terminals soldered it.

Then make a plastic holder that would mount the PCB to the interior sheet metal, connectors and PCB is relatively cheap in small volumes

Heck, with this design I could just replace the Festoon bulb with on board LEDs

DOWNSIDE to this design....
It WOULD require that you cut the ends off of your existing festoon holder wiring and crimp on spade terminals

I am aware that some of this design might contact the sheet metal trim piece, I have a lot of real-estate on the PCB to move things.

When I design a part I try to copy the OEM exactly.

If I can have them made from a high temp 3D printable material it might be a translucent red (of all colors)

I have some parts incoming and will do some real world testing.

If I could guarantee no one would put a 12W OEM incandescent bulb in the socket my material would be fine. BUT no one can make that guarantee and my material would most likely melt and or catch fire due to the really bad design of the OEM plastic holder.

A little testing..
So far no smoke!

Yes I know enclosed in the trim and with the lens on will change things. That's to come.

Well as expected, the plastic got warm enough to flex, on to a higher temp plastic!
