Little Richard, Chuck Barry and some soul groups at the Colonial theater in Milwaukee Wi 1957 no drugs but lots of booze.
The Buckinhams. Early 60's, think I was 5 y/o more or less; so long ago I can't remember exact age. LOL. At the Kenosha County fair. I did have an autograph......lol. Wonder if it would be worth something?
Skynyrds my all time favorite. I just saw the newest documentary on Netflix, very good! Free Bird and Saturday Night Special, 1 and 1A.
Dennis Tufano is still alive and touring with a modern version of the Buckinghams. Keep that autograph!
May 29, 1976 Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Groves Stadium, Winston Salem, NC. It was an outdoor stadium and it rained. But the show went on anyway. So here I was, a hot rod street car and drag race guy with my girlfriend, jammed in between thousands of wet stinky hippies smoking pot... sorry, not my thing. I was not enjoying any of it. That was enough to last me for over 20 years until I took my wife and some of her work friends to see Alan Jackson and Faith Hill. Went to maybe 5 or 6 more country music concerts until Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn screaming drunk fans ruined it for me. Never been to another one.
Al Hirt - sometime in the early 70's at the Blossom Music Center near Akron Ohio. Front row, right in the center. He blew our ears out with that trumpet!!
Doobie Brothers, August 24,1978 at the Springfield (MA) Civic Center. Made the trip in my ‘67 Notchback

I can write a book... First concert was around 1980 and it was triumph never surrender... I can't remember who opened for them.. Metallica at the Roseland theater (1,000 person venue) with Megadeth before they were ever played on the radio.. seen Metallica several times after that... AC/DC, iron maiden, Luther vandross, Tina Turner and Joe cocker, nine inch nails, Tom petty, Judas priest, REO speedwagon, Lynyrd skynyrd, Billy squier, def leppard, George thorogood and the Delaware destroyers, Had a lot of backstage passes as my high school girlfriend worked at Tower records and got a lot of concert tickets for us and backstage passes... Met Ronnie James Dio and some others I can't remember... Probably a few handfuls more I can't even remember...
We went to see Jackal at Flaming Sally's in Macon forever ago. That was the beginning of the end for Flaming Sally's. During "The Chainsaw Song" the guy raised the saw up too far and cut through the ceiling, cutting all kinda electrical conduits and damn near settin the place on fire. Talk about a literal showstopper. LOL It made the national news. LMAO We laughed about that one for years. "You'da figured" they wouldda took the chain off, but hell no. LOL
I did a joke at the firehouse like that. At about 5 am I snuck out to the truck grabbed the chain saw went to the dormitory side and fired the saw up and started screaming. You should have seen grown firemen screaming like little bitches!! It was all planned and the night before I took the chain off. Man them guys were pissed at me!
Lynyrd Skynyrd at the county fair around ‘97. Black Oak Arkansas in ‘01 somewhere around Shreveport, La. David Allen Coe in Daytona during Bike Week. Some friends of mine put together a private party a few years ago and hired Coe to play. Only 200 people invited. Very cool.
That's really funny. I did similar one year for a halloween message on out answering machine. I was revvin hell out of it and me and Kitty were screamin into the machine. Course like even a dumbass redneck, I took the chain off. LOL
Deep Purple in Syracuse a little before Thanksgiving in 1972. Warmups were John Sebastian and Ronnie Dio's band Elf. Dio was from just down the road. I was 12. My Mom's best friend's little brother took me.
Pure Prairie League in 1980 at the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh. Never saw so many people smoking pot in public in my life!!! Actually bumped in to my Mom there (I was 16 and didn't live with her)
For me it was Jethro Tull in 1978 (Busting Out Tour) at the SIU Carbondale Basketball Arena. UK opened for them and both groups were fantastic. Sat in the nosebleed section and it was pretty easy to get a contact high sitting up there.
Crosby,Stills,Nash and young 1972 or 74, it was a long time ago. And I saw all that other stuff y’all posting as firsts as well.
