Since my car is down to just fiddling with fun stuff, there's been some things that I knew needed attention on his car. Like, a rear main seal leak, and several rust issues. You know how it goes when you start digging. But since he's jobless and home schooling we decided to dig. When we got the car, it was a "get it running and drving" deal, because he really wanted to drive it his senior year in highschool. We already replaced the rusty trunk gutters. Among many other mechanical and electrical issues. Time to get it a little more "right". Other things I knew:
A little crust around the left A pillar near the widow seal.
Bad patch job on the front floor pan's.
Rust through on the lower fender mounts.
The aforementioned rear main leak.
Leaking heater core.
So he dug in today. Here's what he found.

Left A pillar rust. The rest is fine. Right is good.

Below pic is in between the dash (that's the pad on the far right of pic) and A pillar. Will be a little tricky working in there.

Floor pan. Fronts pop riveted in. Should be able to remove them, cut to size and weld in. The actual holes are much smaller than the patches.

Rest of floor pan looks good at first inspection.

Well, well. Only part of one we have found.

Lots of things to fix. Should be fun! He's looking forward to honing his metal working/welding skills.

He got the interior removed this afternoon. Needed very little direction. He's getting to know his way around A bodies.

Watch the Ospho to be safe apply a second wet coat and rinse with water to neutralize. It s great stuff, but some paints/primers can react to it and not be good then or later. Great work!!

Thanks! Will definitely neutralize before paint!

Figured we'd start at the front. Tops of the inner fenders were Swiss Cheese. Thanks to Roy's @SGBARRACUDA kind donation we're headed in the right direction.

Damn they are pretty rusty. You won't believe it but there is strawberries at just about every corner now!

Yeah there was no saving the tops of his inners. The ones you gave him cleaned up very nice. Just needed little patches on the ends. They're going to work just fine.

Just realized I haven't posted on this in almost a year. Dang where does time go?
Got the 318 and 904 pulled a couple weeks ago.

Went ahead and pulled the dash. It's really the only right way to do the a-pillar repair. Cut the nuts and pull it out without removing the windshield.

Thanks to Fabo for all the great tips on how to do that!

And the dash needs some attention anyway. Here's the a-pillar repair in progress.

Or we can do it in Carlisle if you're going to make the trip.
