Bought a car I'm doing a Dick Tracy on think its magnum motor how can I tell thank you guys for helping always had big blocks

Count the valve cover bolts. If there's 10 on each cover, it's a Magnum.
If there's 5, it's an LA or a Magnum with LA covers (yes, they fit).
Look on the sides of the block, there should be "Magnum" engine mount bosses at mid-block:

A Magnum will also not have a provision for a mechanical fuel pump on the timing cover, unless it has been swapped for LA parts.
The dead giveaway are the engine mount bosses.

Magnum valve covers have extra bolt holes compared to the LA small blocks, even though the LA valve covers will still bolt on the Magnum heads.

And Magnum heads can bolt to a LA block. Many here have done that. Even if you pull the intake and see a roller cam it could be a LA. Best to get the numbers off the block.

Thanks for the help no engine bosses on driver side only numbers I can see because of headers on passenger side cast 63072
