I need a new clutch. It will (for the time being) be behind a 300hp 318 A833. Looking to do spirited street driving and some drags racing. Will probably end up with a 408 (450hp) in the next year or two so and I want to build for the future. Anyone have anything good/bad to say about spec clutches or 6 puck clutches in an A833 tranny? Had a 6 puck in a 2.2 turbo Daytona making 300+ lbs/ft and it held nicely to my abuse drag slicks etc. There’s lots of reviews on 500 hp mustangs who like the spec stage 3 (6 puck) clutches but can’t find anything for small block mopars. Thanks boys...

Chatter is the big issue with puck clutches. I tried a few back in the day, and they were great either fully disengaged or engaged. In between those two conditions, not good at all on the street.

If the one you are looking at has a Marcel spring, you may get away with it.

No marcel spring in the 6 puck. Guess I need to keep looking.
