Does anyone have any documentation on how to PROPERLY teardown an automatic Manual steering column?
This is for my 67 Barracuda. I can't get the shaft out of the tube.
Thanks!

That's what she said. :protest:

Pull the steering column and figure it out.

Steering shaft sides out the bottom of the tube. A tiny snap ring above the upper bearing is about the only thing holding the shaft in there. There is often a burr developed at that ring groove. This burr and a bit of rust will prevent the shafts sliding out of that bearing. If you destroy the bearing in the process, it is probably crusty, worn, and needed replaced anyway.

This what you're looking for? It's from a 1968 Plymouth service manual.
It's for a manual trans. Automatic floor shift should be the same.
Column shift may have something different to it. Was going to do that also but file was too big.

Thanks guys. There was a Burr in the snap ring. I got it out and all is well. Thanks again for the insight.
