Hi all, finally bought a stereo for the 67 fb. I was going to install the amp and head unit under pass seat, but its a VERY tight fit.
I could put amp under pass and head unit under drivers, or I was thinking on the rear fold down cargo panel(trunk side). Need to take up the "slack" on the latch to minimize vibrations.
I dont want it in glove box and car has factory am/fm in dash. I would like to keep hidden as much as possible, suggestions?
Thanks

Just cut out a huge hole in the dash.... that's the way our forefathers did it! :poke:

How about in the spair tire well? Make a custom insert that holds it to the tire?

Not a fan of behind the folding seat.

I'm not overly familiar with how the FB is set up, but is there enough clearance for them under the back seat bottom?

A little more work, but I have mounted these on top of the rear wheel housing at the pinch weld, making this hidden between the the outer fender and your inner interior FB trim, just beyond your bumper jack.

I do not recommend it on the back door panel. Try to put it some where else (Hide it).

Best way to hide and upgrade a car stereo these days is to skip the head unit, use your smart phone's bluetooth it to your hidden amp or DSP to Amps and on to the speakers.

I use a streaming service called Tidal that streams only CD quality music or higher. Love it.

Agree. I use an app on my phone called Accu Radio played through blue tooth speakers. There are hundreds of 'stations' to select from. Once you rate 25 songs with a 4 or a 5, they are placed into a personal station for you. Then you can keep adding to it. I have a station with about 100 of my favorite songs. There are a few advertisements, but nothing drastic. There are dozens of classic 60s and 70s rock and roll if that's what you like.

Head unit, amp and speakers are bought, that's the route I'm going. The main reason for head unit is that it will accept usb(and others) which i have loaded/transferred a **** TON of my music to. That way I can listen to what I want. Not what the station wants me to listen to.

We are a generation that transitioned through many types of music storage to be sure. I'm sure it will sound nice in that fastback.

Rather than cutting speaker holes in any of that beautiful interior, consider mounting your speakers in pre-made boxes of the correct volume for your speakers that you can secure in the rear section that are aimed to a focal point near the rear mirror. Easily removable/ upgradable and no permanent interior damage.

There's a lot of empty space above the rear fenders behind the side panels, like forward of the jack storage. Difficult to access though.

maybe mount them to something on a swing or slider assy
there is lots of real estate there
Nice stereo, good luck!

Thanks, i grew up listening to Dads music on 8 track in car and vinyl at home. Through my teens it was cassette then eventually onto cd. Now at home its Sirius. Handy and crystal clear but seems a waste to not listen to "my" music(cd). Cassettes are long gone lol. I remember having a large double sided cassette holder for the Duster.
All my CD's have been transferred to digital/USB. Remember Limewire?? Also Greg, @TrailBeast put a good bunch of downloadable music here, so I have that as well.
I should've mentioned I made small boxes for speakers, with the exact intentions you mentioned. They arent the greatest, but i can always redo if needed. Ill be able to move from back seat to cargo space etc.
1 pc under each seat might be the way to go. Wiring can either be under carpet/door sill or console.
Exact same cassette holder I had lol

I bought old school home speaker boxes and fitted 6x9s in them.
Put them on the floor in the way back.

No radio, so I made a bracket that sits behind the delete plate that holds a small amp.

Bluetooth receiver mounts under dash, don't want it hidden, I like physical buttons/knobs.

Also, on another note, found a threefer of gauges that fit exactly where the ashtray is located.
