I tried to join the car stereo forum below the list of site sponsors but that place is beyond dead.
I have some old car stereo stuff here that I want to use. The head unit not crazy old, (Kenwood KDC255u) also says Y21 on sticker on top. Not sure exactly how old, I'm gonna guess about 10 years ish.
I also have a brand new (from 2008) Sirius radio add on unit brand new in the box, everything seems there. From what I see I have to run a redundant antenna along the edge of the windshield close to the stock factory FM antenna, they need to "talk to each other" to receive Sirius. There is also a magnetic small hockey puck looking thing that it says to put on the roof as far back as possible. This Sirius thing is brand new never been registered with Sirius. Can it still be used or is it garbage can filler? I ain't looking at it this second but it's other name on the box, is something like stratus 5... Can't I just plug this into the Kenwood head unit and run it all thru there? From what I read there's something in the pamphlet that came with it about finding an unused local station and tune both to that station to broadcast Sirius they the existing speakers.... One of the things I like about Sirius is not having to search for a local station as I gain and lose signal as I drive in other areas. What if a frequency that isn't used here is, when we m out of my local area?
I also have another Sirius that's a year old.but I'm wanting to use that one on something else with a similar Kenwood head unit, also says Y21 on the sticker but the model number on the face is slightly different. (Don't have that one in front of me, it's in the garage) I have 2 vehicles I want to put these into. I have never opened the box on the year old Sirius head unit. Who can tell me what about these?
I've gotten spoiled with Sirius in my '12 truck. I never listen to local radio anymore when in there. And from the middle of Iowa to Ohio to Wisconsin and Michigan i never have to worry about losing the local channel and searching for a new station to listen to....
