My car 1966 formula S Barracuda
Factory 273 4bbl. Cast iron water pump
Automatic transmission
Factory radiator and steel factory shroud.
currently bolt on direct drive fan.

Has anyone used a clutch type fan from a newer car with this set up?
If “yes” any mods needed?
Thanks-
Joe

I have that exact setup on my car. A couple things....

1) the fan must remain your original fan, they are only 17”, the 67 and newer ones are 18” and some larger, and will not fit the metal shroud.

2) some 6 and 7 blade early A body fans have a hole in the center big enough to pass the stem of the clutch through, other early A body fans don’t. If you don’t have one that does, it must be milled out. I did this to a couple fans for members here, and I have an extra 6 blades fan I could do for you as well if you need one.

other than that, you just remove the spacer and bolt the clutch stem mount right to the pulley/water pump receiver. The spacing from the radiator is just about perfect. If I can get a picture later I’ll include it here, if you’d like me to build you one, message about that as well!
