Sometimes when a manufacturer did not have the part they needed to supply to their clients, they would buy from a competitor and box it or it also might be a new OEM part in the box. The aim of the manufacturer is to be sure that they can supply the part numbers to their clients.
That makes sense.
Did they put that AR stamp and note on the box because they knew the part might not look quite the same as their own?
Seems very forthcoming they would mark the box like that. Kindof the opposite of what we too often see now.
Some manufacturers were more diligent than others. Most of the time when I see that something has been reboxed it's usually been sourced from an OEM supplier because nobody aftermarket was making them at the time. Wasn't uncommon to find a new Mopar part or Ford part or GM part in an aftermarket manufacturer box

No, never saw a sticker like that. But i do know there were oem parts in jobber boxes. Affermarket price was nearly double of oem part.
Guess i should add, warehouse switched vendors typically they would lift the now off brand parts and rebox them to resell under the new brand label.
That happens all the time in the auto parts business. In my 30 years in the business as a store owner I saw that many times. In order to boost profits I also used to buy excess distressed merchandise or parts from a liquidator and I would incorporate them into my inventory. Also if I had some slow moving part numbers I would return them to my local warehouse for credit. Lol
Day one of the downstairs bedroom/bathroom. Gee I forgot how much I hate moving sheetrock but it and the lumber is moved.
Tomorrow the plumber comes and identifies what the previous owner had plumed for a bathroom.
We'll see how much concrete needs to be cut and lines and drains moved to fit the new plan.
