Stop in for a cup of coffee

I was going to buy a thickness gauge and saw it said steel only then there are aluminum only. Screw it I have a 1" mic!

It's Scout Saturday!

Good morning :D

I never knew there were gauge differences between steel and aluminum. Seriously different gauge numbers for the same thickness.

Here ya go hoppy I did a Friday night pizza guy copy and paste for you
Here's why different metals at the same gauge can have different thicknesses:
  • Origin of the Gauge System: The gauge system originated from the number of times a piece of metal was passed through a rolling mill to reduce its thickness. Different metals have different properties (like density and malleability) and therefore respond differently to the rolling process.
  • Material Properties: Each type of metal has its own unique properties, such as density and strength. For example, stainless steel is denser and stronger than aluminum, so a sheet of stainless steel of the same gauge number will be thicker than a sheet of aluminum.
  • Historical Development of Standards: Different gauge standards were developed over time for various metals, further contributing to the discrepancies in thickness at the same gauge number.

Example
  • 10-gauge stainless steel is 0.141" thick.
  • 10-gauge aluminum is 0.102" thick.
Recommendation
  • When working with different types of metal, it's crucial to refer to the specific gauge chart for each metal or, even better, use decimal thickness measurements to avoid confusion and ensure accuracy.
  • Always confirm physical measurements with a caliper or gauge wheel.

I am pretty happy with that stamper. Think I found a guy that will make me a embossing stamp from a sample. That will go in a die in the press. Now Tags to get made.

2 car shows in town today, another tomorrow. The Sunday show will be dominated by the air and hydraulic ride height adjusted vehicles  Impalers with skinny wheels and cambered out Asian imports just a'int my thing so I'll avoid that one like the plague

Good morning everyone. Last supposed to have severe storms and flooding. Looks to me to be all going north of me. Maybe get some work done afterall

It's turning the corner supposedly. Might miss everywhere except Bermuda and the Canadian maritime
