Seems like more and more people are using slants and hopping them up.
Price is cheap and you can make a car move quick with them. I’ve been regretting selling my slant
The hop up parts are expensive though. The good stuff is from Australia they are big into them.
I think a supercharger would be fun. Not for a bargain build though. Use a blower from a 3.8 GM car and craft an intake and drive. Not me. I'm not a good fabricator.

When I was helping my neighbor and his Midget as a teenager there was a Slanty powered racer. It ran very well 
. Them Midget racers were rather creative back then. Woody's hot rod aluminum 215 Olds 
. Cesco Chevys SBC cut in half lengthwise, I think it was Crower that did the SBC cut in half crossways, Flathead Fords, Big CC VWs, Corvairs, I think they were 3.5L maximum.
