Did I miss something?
Green eye? Remember those? Must have been one of the first sealed batteries. I didn't like the idea, but my Nova had one it and it lasted and lasted.
Broke the master link on the way back from the co-op. Very surprised! Fortunately not too far away and could walk the bike and coast. Another thing to fix.
Did you read back? Nothing more needs to be said here.
only to the top of this page. i'll pop back a couple more pages. Hey, did you see where the polara is now fully re-wired?
Just click the little arrow and you can follow the quotes back... No I didnt see you got it rewired. Good!
yep and a buddy of mine who's an facility maintenance tested the harness all out for safety and what not once we got it in. The only thing now is hope the switches all work out.
We have a local person who for years (40) has done nothing but rebuilt alternators. The cost to do mine is $40. I don't know the history of mine, and wonder if I should just get it done?? I know several people who have used this person and all were very happy with the service.
Tornadoes all over your way today. Stay safe man
Heck yeah, probably cost ya most of that to get the parts to do it yourself
Only issue would be appearance. Rebuild is likely just functional - not a 'restoration' type service like Hoppy does on distributors
Afternoon guys, just started snowing here, done with this stuff.
Thanks will do that time of year.
Where's the YUCK button??
Yep I was thinking for performance only. Will look the same as is just run better/stronger??
Can only put out what it was designed to do. I would see it more as insurance against untimely failure ( is there ever a good time?) Matt has posted a bunch of stuff on alternators. Could probably give a bit more insight @Mattax
It’s really coming down now.
I feel for you ,Man! About 8 years ago this weekend it snowed heavy. But it was 50 miles north of here. Latest snow i recall right here was mother’s day.
I predict a really cold May 27th here for sure.
What’s May 27th?
Pretty sure it is the day after May 26! O come on..... You knew some wisenhymer would say it. Frost here this morning but no Snow!
IMO If its working, leave it alone. The only real wear items are the brushes. You can take a peek at them when you feel like it.
Note to self. Self, put spare master link in saddle bag. Self, you knothead, you don't have a chain!
Funny. I don't even carry a tire kit and pump anymore. Not for around the city. Surprised me because this is planetary gear system. if you ever took apart a sturmey archer hub or equivalent you'ld think those little teeth will never survive. Me busting a chain is really surprising. it's not like I'm Greg lemond or lance Armstrong.
