I know polyurethane is superior to rubber for bushings in above springs but can the urethane ones be substituted for solid alum up front?
A body car in question !

I've tried them all and had the best results from rubber. JMO.

Not a huge fan of the poly urethane. Squeaks...
The solid aluminum (or solid steel) should be used in racing.
Rubber is all around the best.

Understand my answer was based on racing. That's what I assumed you were looking for.

I always preferred solid bushing up front & poly or rubber in back. For racing only, you want to minimize deflection. Similar situation with motor mounts, but keeping the trans mount poly or rubber to minimize binding & cracking anything. Just like frame connectors and roll bars - minimizing flex helps the car move quicker instead of having wasted energy and motion within the car. But nothing wrong with using poly or rubber up front, especially if it's not a race-only application.
