Hey FABO, I'm having some doubts about my torsion bar install. Car is a 1970 Duster.

I am running a QA1 K-member and QA1 lower control arms, with 1.03 PST torsion bars. All parts are brand new.

When I installed the torsion bars, the car was on the lift with the lca's hanging freely in the lowest position, and the torsion bar adjustment bolt was about 1/4 of the way up. The bars were installed on the correct driver/passenger side.

There is no engine in the car right now. I weigh 230lbs and when I stand on the K-member there is no noticeable bounce or dip in the suspension. I know that 1.03 bars are stiff, and I know that the engine (and all related accessories) are going to weigh much more than I do, but I'm just surprised that there isn't a little bit of bounce when I put my weight on it.

Is that normal, or is there a problem with the torsion bar clocking?

Thank you in advance.

I would say pretty normal especially for 1.03 bars. They will be pretty stiff. Put it all together, adjust it properly and then see if it's too stiff for you.

I wouldn't worry about it until the drive train is in and you can roll or dive the car a bit to get it to settle then adjust the bars. Just watch the bump stops if you go too low. you'll need to grind them down or buy shorter ones. Especially watch the lower arm bump stop.

Some people love the 1.03 bars, but my buddy had them in a 69 barracuda with a SB and hated them, I think you are going to have to drive it and see for your self.

Normal. 230 ain't fatass enough to even let the suspension know you're there.
