Had a bad case of 'cabin fever' this morning so my wife and I took a drive (didn't get close to anybody else) down to the LA Harbor to take a look at the USNS Mercy that arrived a couple of days ago. She's docked at the cruise terminal close to the USS Iowa battleship.
Pretty impressive...
894' long, former oil tanker complete with 12 surgical suites and a total patient capacity of 1000 beds.
She and her sister-ship, USNS Comfort, are the 3rd largest ships in the US Navy by length. Only the nuclear-powered Nimitz- and Gerald R. Ford-class supercarriers are longer.
