New Windshield along with rust and leak repair and seal, new wheels and tires, a buffing or two, and some cuda seats with new black carpet, custom dash pad, and new steering wheels. Sound deadener under the carpet. Also there was a hole in the dash where the orig radio was so i replaced it with a new one, modern radio. The whole dash and wood grain instrument cluster was black when I got it. I did some rust repair on the front floor pans and sealed them .

Now black to the car. Hood Stripe, Side Stripe, Bumpers . The reason I painted the bumpers black is because they were rusted and pitted and didn't have money to get them rechromed. So instead I grinded them down, put body filler in/on the bumper, then painted em with rusto paint and them black paint. The instrument cluster wasn't fully functional . So I pulled it and cleaned all contact areas and replaced the bulbs . While it was out, I sanded it, grounded the gauge opening, primered it, sanded again, black base coat, and then painted it the same orange as my car (omaha) and cleared it.

So I finally decided on swapping the 225/904/7.25 combo for a 360/727/8.75 set up. I completely rebuilt the engine. Had it machined (honed and line bored), mild cam (lunati bracket master), rebuilt heads, performer RPM intake, 750cfm vacuum secondary carb, headers, and more I'm prob forgetting. The 727 was completely rebuilt also with an installed shift kit. I have a shaumaker mount kit for the conversion. I don't have a 8 3/4 yet though.

Looks great! Sand that engine compartment while the motor is out, and paint the rest of it orange. Also, if you haven't done it already....tap those holes below your exhaust ports on the new 360, and install a small pipe plug in them. If you don't, you will have an exhaust leak from hell with the headers. It's a pain to try to correct with the motor in the car. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, started painting the bay today.

I understand your concerns and opinions on the bay but don't forget I'm on a highschool budget . I plan to completely go through the car eventually and paint all of it but for now I just don't have the funds to paint the bay the same color :/. So I went on with painting it black to get rid of the original blue .

This weekend motor goes in.

Tomorrow I finish painting.

I'm hungry. Thanks for all the compliments and advice , appreciate it !

Sorry again for the sacrilegious bay paint, I'll paint it eventually when I have funds, I'm just cleaned out from this swap .

Pretty sure the bulk of hot rodders past the age of 30 have lived this same thing. I like what you're doing with it...I personally would tend to agree with the above sentiments about engine bay paint, but I also don't think you owe anyone on this forum or, elsewhere for that matter, an apology or rationale for the engine bay paint...it's your car and your the one that has to live with your decisions.

You're walking the line between driving your toy, and making it meet your goals...for right now, enjoy your project-just don't let it become a garage fixture or a parts storage bin.

Looks good, a lot of hard work here rewarded by a nice car overall!
Can't wait to see more......
