Whats your opinion of it? Hokki coverage I think. They hype it up so much to make everyone freakout. When it turns out to be not that bad they find a water puddle to stand in or a downed tree to stand by and YAP YAP about nothing.

I know the conditions are bad and there will be serious hardship. But they could have handed out raingear and mics to a clump of teenagers and done no worse than they are doing

I don't mean to down play the seriousness of any disaster , especially to those affected, but their reporting is mostly hokkie hype. Good luck to all the folks up there.

Bullspit interpretation of what was actually in the video.

The reporter was in the foreground and the grass and other objects around him are moving consistent with the wind strength he was displaying by his actions. Look closely at how the wind is beating his pant legs.

The people in the background were more than 50’ away and in a more sheltered wind area based on the objects around them.

This report isn’t lying, the wind outside of the sheltered area behind him is just as strong as it appears to be.

The only liar here is the fake interpretation of the video.

Don't know about that, but I see sensationalism in every newscast, and a certain guy on channel 6 weather here in the Tulsa area.
Its almost like the internet, don`t believe much of it !

I don't believe the wind estimates till I see the news guys fly away like a kite!!! You guys in Fl know hurricanes are unpredictable and can be seriously deadly. Remember there are people back there in NC that have never experienced a bad one or even a milder one.
We misses Harvey last year, but caught some of the set in flooding. We are 1 hr N of Houston, but the death toll here in the sticks with people that have been there, seen it...one guy and his horse washed away trying to move cattle from a pasture along the river, another couple and their baby washed away driving across a bayou flowing across a road, etc.
But I agree, I totally dislike the news in general. National or Houston. Tired of all the BS!!!!

No different than all the fake BS news coverage of everything. My prayers go out to all those affected by the hurricane

Yea I call bs to all that but whatever.

Here’s another example. Also, notice how the people behind the reporter above are in the street? Therefore they have no more protection than that “reporter” does.

Too bad you don’t want to understand that wind conditions vary even just across the street and try to interpret a video without bias. You’d rather believe the media is lying to you.

                  Have it your way.

I looked across the entire video including across the street and into the trees beyond. I see the truth of it, you only see your bias in it.

They are doing a good job, of reporting, and it's better to be safe than sorry, when estimating wind speed, rainfall amounts, water levels, etc.

Ouch!!! Im suprised pretty boy Anderson Cooper would risk getting his hair wet. Vietnam war correspondents used to shoot with the Saigon Zoo as the backdrop so it looked like they were in the bush. Nothing new. Next time we get Santana winds here, Ill stand on my roof and take a shot of me during a 70 mph wind gust and claim were in a dry hurricane here, while me BBQ is cooking patties in the protected backyard under me. If it bleeds, it reads.....

So, if that's the case then why wouldn't the reporter just go to the sheltered area and make his report from there without all the unnecessary theatrics?

Maybe if another 50 feet behind the camera pieces of plywood were flying through the air he could have went and stood there? Advanced reporting.

Add me to the list of "biased".

Look, the reporter chose the most dramatic spot he could, no doubt. But he didn’t fake the winds that were actually there...and the entire point is that those winds are what is battering the area overall. The theatrics are part of the presenting the full impact of the situation so that people understand the real nature of it.

It is a hurricane and they are reporting the real conditions that the entire community is experiencing, not trying to find a shady spot to hide from it.

What do you want, some guy sitting under a porch saying I only got 3” of rain here while 40 miles away they got 30”+ and are watching their town swept away?

That's ridiculous. What I expect is the media to report the facts, in such a way that benefits their audience to the greatest extent possible, kinda like the way they like to portray themselves. If the real news is 40 miles away, then get over there and report it and actually provide some value to the situation for those whose town is being swept away. Instead, they find a breeze to lean into, or a water filled ditch to stand in and create their own news like ratings whores. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that his film crew brought their own giant fan to get that wind effect going.

That's why I like Jerry Springer - he never pretends to be something he's not, and he never pretends that he provides any real benefit to society. He's just another TV circus act.

Have your reality your way. I choose to seek truth and an unbiased interpretation of what I see...not a preconceived notion of what it is.

I am not defending the media with an open hand...but I’m not bashing them with one either.

I know that weather is all they do. But 30 -40 MPH winds isn't enough to report non stop ,standing in a water puddle with there NORTH FACE gear on . YEP its windy and its raining but move on to where the real shit is goin down.

Not so buzzard breath. The one I was talking about , was all excited telling everyone there was a tornado over the qicktrip about a 1 1/4 miles from me, I was standing outside listening to the radio watching the weather, there wasn't a dam thing over the quicktrip or anywhere else out here, the weather was good enough to see . I wont watch that forecaster anymore, he`s always doing the sensationalism bit. The news is just as bad if not worse. You can pick out the liberal Obama type lovers just by paying attention .

The Weather Channel was started by a real live meteorologist by the name of John Coleman. He did the news in Chicago for many years; why I know of him. Good guy, but he was basically voted out and bought off the company/channel he started. Big business rolls over the little guy that isn't super savvy in business. And almost forgot, he is on record as saying that he does not believe in man made warming....
