thinking of switching to electric fuel pump

-
The crazy thing is the 2bbl I had on wasn't leaking and ran fine and that was just a carter I believe

Some carbs are just more sensitive to fuel pressure than others. Although Holley says to run them at 7 psi. from my experience they usually do ok until you hit about 8-8.5 psi then they start having problems with overflowing, although I had one that ran fine at 10 psi. Just the luck of the draw sometimes. Float level adjustment can affect it also. I always adjust the float levels after I install a new pump as a part of the fine tuning process.

AutoX! Since you Auto Cross your vehicle, would you suggest a mechanical pump? Wouldn't the fuel delivery when you corner hard be as consistent as when you use an electric?

Also for the people that uses mechanical pump, which would one would be a good one price and quality wise.

Standard Carter hi po pump. Forgot the exact number.

I run the bigger 3/8" fuel lines and 3/8" pick up/sender. That is because of the very long straight away at Willow Springs were you come off a never-ending right hand sweeper at 60 mph and hammer down until 120+ mph or when you choose to brake hard (very early in my case) for a turn one at 40 mph.

You wouldn't need that in a autocross course. But I know someone that had a Dart with similar HP to mine that would starve out at Willow Springs until he switched to 3/8" fuel line.

Not on the engine in this picture, but I run Thermosleeve on all the metal fuel lines.
