I have found that if you want a piece of clothing to be white just acidentally let some toothpaste get on it when you're brushing your teeth. In fact, if you're wearing a bright white shirt the toothpaste will still manage to put a white stain on the shirt that is whiter than the bright white shirt!!!

IIRc toothpaste has a small bit of blue in it to make your teeth look 'whiter'.....
