I have a chance to buy a 70 Duster. By add picture seems to be straight. Was a /6 car but he has a good 360 he was going to put in it .I've requested more pictures , lots of pictures . He's a 100 mi away so I'm a little skiddish . He's asking $1000. For the car $1500 for car and 360. Its probably a no brainer right?

100 miles to see it in person before spending the money is a no brainer.

Assessing it upon arrival though, that may take some serious thinking.

100 miles is just a nice weekend drive to check out what could be a great deal. But as you know there's an equal chance that it won't be worth the trip. Ive towed my empty trailer 4.5 hours to turn around and haul it back home empty when I found the car to be misrepresented.

If you don't go, you'll always wonder "what if", did the same thing jut yesterday on a brand new set of TTi ceramic coated headers advertised about 35 miles away, they were gone by the time I got off my ass, really fair price too.

Miles aren't . depending on what the pictures bring. I've talked with him a little bit. He's really a Chevy guy . He got the Duster from a friend he doesn't know Much about Mopars .

I agree with others. I've towed a trailer, rented a pickup (when l didnt have a tow vehicle) , did a over-nighter once, countless hours walking junkyards, ( AKA- automotive recycling facilities), etc etc.... all to come home empty handed. I say go for it. Not every good deal is right around the corner. And damn sure don't wait for someone to just drag one to you asking if you want to buy it. Ya gotta be a bit adventurous.
Of course, l have done all the above and DID come with a prize on more than one occasion. Good luck.

My current project was a FABO ad. A couple PM's, a phone call, and a good feeling. 8hrs round trip, @$100 in tolls, and I have the project I was looking for. You gotta shake a few trees to find a nut.

I'm with the majority. 100 miles is nothing. Yes, it may be a turd and you drive back home empty handed. It may be a jewel and you drive back home triumphant. It's a 3-hour round trip. Find a good place for a burger/fries/beer on the other end and make an adventure of it.

Go for it, a decent road trip is around 250 miles, and ask the locals where the best place to eat is.

I've done the same thing . Not my first rodeo. I guess just looking for some justification . The price is too good especially if its in good shape.

I took my friend from Hawaii on his longest car ride ever, four and a half hours one way to look at a RamCharger that wasn't as described in the ad, or over the phone! But it was a fun trip with a friend and another fun chase of a lead in a vehicle I was wanting. 100 miles isn't enough to discourage me, and shouldn't discourage you either.

Pics are worth 1,000 words or so they say, but that cant replace an up close and personal hands on look see. Bring a magnet with you for questionable areas. 100 miles is nothing. Hit the road early and bring your trailer or tow dolley just in case. You could be home by noon with a new toy. Or it could be a roach that you dont want. I know that would bother the crap out of me if i didnt go see it to assess if it was a good deal.

How any times have I done this? And come home with prizes of all different kinds. When you show up with an empty trailer, sellers know you mean business and have money in your pocket. It would be hard not to deal with a $1500 price for a Duster if any year that comes with a 360. And if it’s not as described, a lower offer can always be given. It’s hard to watch an empty trailer leave over a few bucks when you’re a seller, especially a Chevy lover stuck with a Mopar!

I drove 3 hours to look at a car from a self proclaimed flipper It was misrepresented, and I asked HTF can a pro flipper misrepresent a car so bad. I cussed some, kicked his tires some, and said he would have to damn near pay me to take it off his hands. Well I admit I wond up giving him $600! All it had was a small amount of frame rust. He was a chevy guy and wanted it GONE! lol

If it's been local to Yakima then it could have little rust. If it came from the coast then it might have problems. My 76' F-150 Body came from Wapato, was a school distinct truck and was very rust free.

I flew 2000 miles to get my dually...didn't even have a photo. Hadn't run in 13 years. Drove it home with13 year old gas.

I've backed up more than 100 miles to get a project.

I have driven 1000 mi after projects. OK, so that was decades ago and they were hemi and 6 pac cars

I have had cras for sale, that city guys would not dribve an hour out of town to see. They wanted that 69 Roadrunner to be sitting on their BLOCK!

100 miles is nothing. Get in the car (bring cash) and go see it in person. If it’s good buy the thing and make him throw everything in for the $1000. :)

                                    I can’t believe 100 miles would bother anyone. What’s that a 2 hour drive? That’s nothing.

Hell I’ve driven 4 hours one way to buy $125 bicycle.
