Not sure if I should stick with the duster project. I have invested time and energy in this car and have along way to go in a short time.

Why a short time?? Why not do things as time and money permit?? It took me 12 years to do my blue 66, doing all the work myself (except paint), and waited patiently for good deals to come along for stuff I needed, waiting sometimes 5 years to get the right parts at a price I could afford! What's the hurry???

I have invested an awful lot of time (almost 3 years) and money (trust me, its expensive) into my Duster. It is finally mechanically sound and now I am doing the body work.
It just turned over 3K miles since I rebuilt the engine.

If like me, you enjoy working on it, then what is the hurry

I had 17 yrs in my 69 Coronet - never got past the body work. (moved, had 2 more kids we didn't expect to have, my job got a lot more demanding of my time, Jake started driving so freshened up the Shelby and then built his 65 so I could have the Shelby back as my daily) Ended up selling it as a rolling shell and a truck load of parts when a guy came to buy an e body hood of all things.... It was all there in boxes. He offered more than fair price for it. 3 months later, the new owner had it in paint and putting the pieces back on. He went with my vision on it. Should I have kept it? probably - it could have been done well before my new project. I picked up a 68 Bcuda ragtop a few weeks later that needs a total everything. It's been a year and a half of parts gathering for it. I have everything I need for the body and suspension now and I hope to start on it this Spring. Life happens.

Did I answer you sell or keep question? Not at all...... but that's my story.... LOL

I am in year 7 on my build, mainly enjoy the alone time in the shop planning and building. It is more about the therapy than the car for me. And the pay-as-I-go thing is a factor as well as I imagine it is for all of us. Good Luck!:coffee2:

I agree with what everyone else said too..I myself have owned my car for 10+ years and in those last 5 a new house and 2 beautiful little girls have come first so my dart has been on the back burner.I keep saying next year is the year to put some time and money into but I guess i will have to wait and see what the year brings.

Nothing wrong with a long term project

I think you should sell it.
If you are even asking this question, that means you'll never be happy with the car.
If you really loved it and wanted to keep it, you would be willing to carry the project through regardless of the time and money spent to get it to where you want it to ultimately be.
Sell it and look for a car that you would like more than this one and carry it through until completion.
In my past i've sold off a lot of cool cars that just didn't ''do it'' for me.

I think he has hit one of those walls we all hit and is frustrated, it's an expensive and time consuming hobby and can test the resolve of even the most hearty hot rodder..

I have around $25K into my Duster (all told). Probably a lot less expensive than a therapist for 3 years

      HaLB,
So where are you with the progress. What gets it road worthy enough for you to enjoy?

What exactly does "along way to go in a short time" mean.

My '72 was my daily driver for a year about 15 years ago. It's lived in my garage since then - marriage, kids, jobs, etc. have made it a back-burner project for a long time. Yesterday I took the dead battery to the parts store, bought a new one, stuck it in and said "I know I shouldn't even try since it hasn't run in months, but what the hell?" Two tries and she started right up. That sound alone made it worth all these years of planning and waiting.

From what I have seen, Rusty can be a bit of an antagonist - usually pretty funny if you "take it right" - likes to F around with people in non technical threads.. :D

      LMAO!

I've jumped ship on a lot of projects. Looking back I should have stuck with them. That's why I'm sticking with my Dart. It's gonna take my years to complete but it will be worth it in the long run.

Just like my rat truck. I have tried to sell the Hemi so many times, it's ridiculous. But I keep doing little things to it by and by. One day I will drive it down the road.
