Are the weatherstrips supposed to be glued in place or are they supposed to lock in and hold themselves? When cleaning up the retainer, it looked like there was some glue residue in a couple places. If I had to guess, I'd say the thin piece that attaches to the retainer (before the retainer is installed) should get some adhesive. The molded piece that wraps around to the side window area(installed after the retainer is screwed to the header) locks itself in and doesn't need adhesive. Am I correct?

When I removed the retainer from the header, there was nothing between it and the header in the way of a seal. No foam or anything. I'm not sure if someone had been there before me and removed anything or if nothing is supposed to go between the two pieces.

When I took my top off a couple years ago. I noted the dabs of sealer / adhesive on the rubber seals that attach to the metal that the seals press into. The dabs are there to keep the seals from moving not hold them in. There was some foam detween the metal and the top mech.

The header bow I don't recall there being any sealer / adhesive. There MIGHT have been some to attach the top to the header.

BTW in the second photo you can see the black foam behind the large dia hole

I've got the DMT gasket kit. I took detailed pictures of all my foam gaskets when I took it apart. I sent those pictures and the gaskets themselves to DMT per his request. The side window weatherstripping channels have foam between them and the mechanism but the header weatherstripping retainer didn't.

Did you glue in the thin dense rubber seal to the header retainer? The larger/softer piece seems like it will lock into the retainer and not need any glue.

We're your foams around the rear curtain all black? He asked me to send mine too but I chose to keep them. When I bought my kit it was " for barracuda AND dart. I had to buy 2 kits to make it work. I brought it to he's attantion and sent detailed photos of the difference. He conceded that the dart and barracuda were indeed different and now makes 2 kits. I pointed out the squares and strips with holes should be black, I have now seen 2 foams from a 67 and a 68-69 and they were both black.

My top installer put it in so I don't know. I wanted to do the seals but he insisted.

I'll see if I can find the pictures. The small squares between the top material and the body were white.

Now there are 3 examples that the long strips should be black

        Hamtramck February SPD I think.

I got the thin weatherstripping piece installed in the retainer. It does not require any glue. It snaps in place. When the top gets put on, they can add some adhesive to it if they want to. Right now it's just installed so I can keep the sub-assemblies together which takes up less space.
