A friend of mine told me about that, he said there were only two tapes that made a difference. Been meaning to watch it
Not only that but two tapes absorbed heat and made the test medium (steel) hotter!
 
The DEI tape I used was one that was about 1/8 to 3/16 thick and had an insulating barrier. I think (not positive though) it’s one of the ones they tested that worked. I have a friend at westech I could ask. Either way my results were clear. Melted carpet prior to tape, no melted car post tape, so I’d say mine worked.

Finished up the heat shield today. Wrapped the backside of it in heat reflective tape. Then I was able to finish making the new spark plug wires.

Also picked up a tig welder. I used to weld for a living many years ago. Looking forward to getting it setup and messing around with it.
