Will the torsion bars from a 1965 barracuda interchange with a 1969 Dart

Yes, are they both 6 cyl cars? There are different size diameter
for different weight engines etc.

Note: Chrysler originally put this chart together in 1971 as part of a service managers technical bulletin. It was not intended for reproduction or publication. It was confidential, for use by service department employees to identify parts in the field by their original color codes. It covers '71-and-older vehicles, but does not list every torsion bar.

Today, it is a valuable restoration tool. Roger Gibson uses it. He says it is accurate for muscle Mopars.

Yes, Abody to Abody, 1963-76 :)

If you do, try to use matched pairs so the stiffnesses stay about the same. Mixing and matching can cause handling problems. If this is a circle track car.....nevermind!

The Barracuda has a 273 and the dart has a 340 would the torsion bars be the same part number. What other parts interchange, Suspension, Steering ? Would the frame rails or inner fenders swap?

the 340 torsion bars would be the slightly stiffer ones,
and would be a good upgrade, if you want a stiffer ride. :)

inner fenders are different,
frame rails are a maybe,
steering tie-rods tie-rod ends etc, would be larger on the 69,
but are also heavier duty, you of course would have to measure
and adjust them tie-rods to make the same length., end to end.
steering boxes interchange, brakes swap,

They could have the same number but more important is the stiffness you desire. Check the numbers on the end of the bars and compare them to the above chart. The inner fenders and frame rails are different. Suspension interchanges. The steering gear will swap but the other steering components are different. Snag that 8 3/4 and leaf springs out of the 340 car and put that into the '65 too.

Thanks for the information. Im parting out the 65 barracuda and saving what I can to put on the 69 dart. I can upgrade to power steering on the 69, would I have to change the pitman arm?

Oh, I thought you were going the other way 'round. The pitman arm off the '69 manual box will fit the '65 power box. It's debateable as to whether that's an upgrade or not! You'll have to find a '67-9 A-body power column to do the swap though....or just the center shaft w/coupler out of a '68-9.
