On 1970 Dart, I pulled my trans rear housing to change the governor, and found the tranny mount is securely attached to the cross member. I had to remove the 2 bolts holding the mount to the tranny to get it off! Never saw that before, I have mainly pulled them out of B Body cars. So I think I will put studs in the rear housing, and use nuts to hold the mount on when I put it all back together. Anyone else have to do it like that? I don't want to ruin the threads in the alum housing, taking it apart all the time, so thats why I'm using studs with nuts.

Seems to me you have never worked with the new style trans mount.
That's how they are. The stud thing has its good points and bad points. I sometimes install my engine and trans together with the crossmember already in. Studs would make that impossible.
On the other had just having to spin the nuts up if the trans is already in the car would definitely be easier and faster.
Whatever you prefer I guess. Won,t hurt anything.
