I'm currently putting a 360 magnum and 727 into my 1969 dart and need to buy transmission cooler lines. From what I can tell there are 2 options, lines with a loop near the radiator and lines with a loop 12" from the radiator. What's the difference and which one should I get? Thanks.

It has been awhile since you posted this but just wanted to offer my 2 cents. I am putting a magnum 360 and 727 in a 68 barracuda and the line with the loop 12" back is a pain in the a**. But...I also am putting it on a /6 k member so I am not sure if that is part of my issue. I would go with the loop by the radiator

For curiosity sake, what's with the loop? The way mine were ran when I bought the car and how I still have them now are just straight to the cooler and back. The lines run along the frame, up the radiator support, through the opening in front of the battery, back down behind the bumper, through the cooler, and then back up and back. I haven't noticed any issues thus far with heat or anything otherwise, but I could be overlooking something?

Not exactly sure about why those loops are there. I am assuming some clearance or to account for movement between the drive train and chassis. I have an aftermarket radiator so my cooler fittings are right down at the bottom. Did you make your own lines or did you order them? If so, where from?

I don't know who this was aimed toward but I just have plain 'ol rubber transmission line. Metal line would be nice with bulkhead fittings going through the radiator support to the cooler. This is very clean looking when done. Mine is clean enough looking for me so I haven't changed them. Maybe one day.

If by loop you mean a U shape,; yes those are to provide some flexibility in the system to prevent cracking of the lines, and also to provide a little wiggle room for the installer. On SBMs with oem fitting placement in the rad, the U needs to be as close to the rad as possible, so you can adjust it underneath the shroud, and still fit it between the K-member and the rad.
