I was looking back in the archives and found exactly what I didn't want to read. Seems the 727 truck transmissions have a different tailshaft than cars. They are probably the same length (hopefully) but they are like a full inch thicker where the trans crossmember bolts up. I couldnt figure it out, I had a 451B/727 combo in before and now my 403LA/727 doesnt fit? Yup, its a 360 D150 truck driveline that has the thick tailshaft. The crossmember just can't bolt up. So I either have to get a car tailshaft and do a switch or alter my crossmember (easier) by cutting out the bottom of the crossmember where the trans mount bolts to and dropping the trans mount through to the new height and welding an extension and shimming the rear pinion to match the trans angle. Crossmember are cheaper than tailshafts so if I fudge it, I can always just get another one. Unless someone in So Cal wants to hook me up 8-)....
