I’m in the process of doing a slant 6 to 340 conversion on my 72 Dart Swinger. It’s a column shift auto. I have stock 72 340 exhaust manifold 3614368 and am looking at complete manifold back exhaust systems. After researching this site and others I’m leaning towards the TTI system. On the TTI site it’s says for floor mounted autos with the three section Kickdown, the lower bell crank and throttle rod may need to be modified by cutting 3/4” out of the bell crank and welding back together. The note isn‘t listed for the column shift, but it’s unclear why the floor shift kickdown would be different than the column shift.

Does anyone have a similar setup (72 auto on column with 3 section Kickdown) and have experience with the TTI downpipes? Did the kick down bell crank require modification? I know a Lokar cable is an option, but I‘d like to keep the setup I have if possible. I did send TTI an email asking for info, but I’m looking for real world experienc. Thx in advance for any insight.

You can PM me. I have TTI exhaust with column shift linkage. On a 1972 Dart. I'm sure I can help you

Are you talking about the linkage on the intake or trans side?. PM me I can help you on either side.

It gets close. But it fits. You need the bar in the 2nd photo. TTI sells it.

I got tired of fighting it when I was doing my Duster. Actually everything on that car was a fight... It's a pain, but it will work.

I ended up not needing to modify the bell crank. The pipe TTI sent ran around the starter next to the torsion bar. It has a crease in the pipe to clear the torsion bar, but in my case the crease was a bit too high in the pipe so the pipe only cleared the torsion bar by 1/16-1/8”. I emailed them and they called me right back. They are sending a new pipe, they were very responsive and helpful.

On the passenger side you have to remove the engine to transmission support bar to get the head pipe all the way up into place.

Lastly, I had to drill holes in the floorboard for the muffler hangers. They are made to bolt to the seat belt mounting bolt, but the instructions do tell you that for some cars holes may need to be drilled. In my case the seat belt mounting holes are too low.
