Not hardly. My red top Optima just went bad after 16 years! I think I’ll buy another one at 210.00.

I heard that’s about how long they last. Maybe they made improvements.

I must have gotten really lucky my Turbostart.

I bought it in July 2013 for $209 from Summit and it’s still going!

I’m preparing for the Odyssey PC925 gut.

Mine lasted less than a year, and they didn't do squat for me. Now its nothing but a $370 piece of shop art. That company can kiss my AZZ. Never again.

I don't know, I'm not against new technology but I never had issues with a regular lead acid battery. I had a few optima batteries in my boat and had a failure after a year on the first one and a then the other failed after the second year. Maybe it was old stock and they replaced them under warranty so I really shouldn't complain. But I run trickle charges and never had a lead battery fail that quick.

that battery would be 700 Canadian by the time i had it in my hands exchange , tax , shipping , import fees . and possible broker fees . everything i buy from our southern friends is exactly double . i just bend over and pull em apart .

edit . ps . my red top has been in since 2008 and still as strong as new .

                    What I don’t get is the $140 increase in price since 2013? That’s 67%!!!!

                    How can Turbostart justify that?

                    I guess they didn’t think we’d notice...

                    Where is @marcus cardwell ?

The Odyssey PC925 in my airplane is now 9 years old and works as new. An old style lead acid Gill battery, brand NEW, would be dead if I didn't get a start on the third try. With the Odysey I can taxi down the lake on the battery, with mags off, it spins the engine so fast.

The script battery I bought for the Bee has an AGM inside, I presume it's a 925. I bought it 2016 and as of last week starts the car on the first crank..and if I happen to flood it I can crank numerous times and still never fails to get her started. For the Bird I gutted the old lead acid 27 script I've had since 1990 and installed the PC925 back in 2019. Figure it'll still be good in 10 years and either it won't be my problem anymore or it'll be easy to swap out.

Dart I cheated with a $100 topper... lol

Same here. I ran through 3 bad Optima batteries in a year. After the last one failed and I got a replacement, I put it in a vehicle I was selling.....good riddance!

Wayne, did you get the topper from Mancini or batterytopper.com?

I noticed Mancini was $10 cheaper than batterytopper.com but then again, shipping method makes all the difference in the world.

I just bought it from Jamie as I like dealing with him (megaparts). $70 US and $22 postage. Cheaper than Yone... and that's where Jamie gets them to start with as they have YearOne's labels on them! lol

I did note later that Mancini has them for $60, but considering he f'd me on my header gaskets by shipping Fedex vs USPS.. I'm done there. I said that 4 years ago as well, but this time I mean it.

Funny thing is they did the same to me when I bought the retro Mopar Performance Rapid Transit jacket around 2005.

Sales guy said no problem, they’ll ship the jacket USPS to my house for around $7.00. A few weeks later I get “ding dong” at my front door and Mr. UPS hands me my parcel and a whopping bill as well.

When I called Mancini to talk to a Manager, the sales guy I dealt with denied he ever quoted $7.00 shipping and denied ever saying they would ship USPS.

Now I’ve got the world’s most expensive plastic jacket. At least it’s Made in Canada.

Odessey is hard to beat, 8 to 9 yr life. If you kill ( down to zero voltage) it, charge it back up. Left my mstr on in my plane, dead battery. Charged it back up, that was 2 yrs ago, still good . Not sure if the make a stand up post battery that we can put a cover over.

No one yet has been able to beat my 16 year old red top Optima. If I hadn’t owned it I wouldn’t believe it my self. But the one thing I have always done was DC the positive cable when I park the Dart.

The guy from Turbostart was on here on another thread and told me there was new ownership, and that he would make my battery purchase right. Never happened. Crickets

The 8 year old Mopar Red Cap Turbostart Group 27 in my Cuda still turns over the 418 stroker like the day it was new.

You know you're a gearhead when you look at at an OEM battery and think "man, that thing is sexy". Who cares if its even half as good as an optima. I just want to look at it.

Like anything, I don't think Optima is s good as they were. I could be speculating...

I have a Vizio flat screen bought in 2008 for $900 and it still works perfectly. My wife wanted a smart tv, so logically we bought a Vizio. Biggest piece of garbage. The sound stopped working, had to factory reset it. Just recently, we cannot access the apps from the remote, regardless of the button, the screen just goes black. At least we got it from Costco. Oh, and it's less than a year old! Yet, my 13 yr old Vizio, works perfect and is in the garage now.
