How many different types of hubcaps and dog dish/poverty caps were there? I have been seeing more and more while looking and besides the redline, vented and non vented caps I am lost on what is what.

Is there a guide somewhere? here are 2 kinds that I found. The second set was labeled as 15 inch dart hubcaps.

What year are you looking for? There were several types made, all can be tied to what year car they came from.

Some they made for a few years as well. Also the ones with the stamped round vent holes were police wheel caps. The original design for those started in 1969 and said plymouth motor division spelled out around in a circle and no stamped holes. Later versions they nixed the lettering left em smooth and used em on both dodge and plymouth. The same cap with the round holes stamped in them police cap was used later up thru 1989 on police M bodies So that one cap made it 20 years with minor changes.

No specific years. Just some type of guide or place to see the different kinds, I have a 1969 Dart, and have non-vented poverty caps right now (not on car). I'm just constantly looking at parts and new things pop that I haven't seen before.

My favorite are the redlines, but the set in the first picture I posted are pretty cool looking as well.

Your first cap in the pic was used on 65-66 dodges and valiants. They looked exactly the same except for the center. Caps in the pic have the dodge "fratzog" emblem in the middle, the valiant cap would have a red and a blue triangle making up the valiant emblem.

I am a fan of the redline caps on body colored steelies with black walls. Typically cars that got poverty caps got body colored steelies. On cars that got full wheel covers, the steelies were painted black.

On my sons 69 cuda, we are going with gloss black 15x7 steelies, and chrome lug nuts. Going for that no nonsense I mean business look. Kinda like the 1969 six pack drag pack RRs and Super bees. These had a 4 pin lift off fiberglass hood, 440+6, and black steelies with chrome lugs and red lines. One of them looks like it's all business.

I love the redlines, they are just what seems like very hard to find. I also found a 67-69 six pack hood (so the listing says) here's a picture.

My sons 69 barracuda hood is the same hood used on 73-76 dart. We are using a 73 dart sport scoop on it. First seen on the 71 demon 340 it's got 2 openings in it. I refer to it as a "double demon" scoop because of the 2 openings.

Cover in post #9 is a 69 plymouth deluxe full wheel cover for 14" wheel rim. I believe the emblem in the center was a rocket since chrysler was pretty involved with the space program back then. I mean helping to build the Saturn IV was a big deal back then.

That one is pretty cool, I don't know how I would like a hood scoop on my car, I'm liking it the way it is, just want the steelies and caps on it. Soon, after I figure out the rear brakes, axles, and put everything together. We are enjoying driving it all the time right now.

They were involved in the prime mover or heavy lifter main rocket of the saturn IV program. Chrysler and Phillip's lighting also co developed electro luminescent lighting. This was light weight and very vibration resistant and used for backlighting the panels in the LEM and command modules. Chrysler also used this same lighting for the gage faces and illuminating the gage pointers on new Yorkers, and imperials from the late 50s thru the early 1960s. An EL dash looks great lit up. Last car they put one in was the 1967 charger. The EL panels are built so well they still function great 50 years later. Power supply takes 12VDC and flips it and steps it up to 280 to 300VAC to light the panels and pointers

Your second picture isn't a hub cap. That's called a wheel cover. Not trying to be picky but you will have better luck finding them if you call them the right thing.

I got an old life magazine 2 page spread from 1968. It shows all the vehicles Chrysler makes including boats, heavy duty 18 wheelers, and military vehicles. then laying down across the 2 page spread is a Saturn moon rocket. Pretty powerful advert.

I don't think it is OEM. I am 99% sure the only other hood was the 68 - 69 GTS with the simulated side openings

It's not. Six pack scoop was only factory on 69&1/2 code A12 drag pack cars with lift off hoods and 440+6 engines

I was thinking it looked like a full size wheel hub cap (wheel cover), as it seems to have the valve stem opening.

I will for now on call them by the correct name, thanks for the correction. They pretty nifty looking as well.

I think I'm going to buy picture #1. Who needs 10 sets of wheels when you can have 10 different types of poverty caps!
