Under Dash Wiring Harness

Hey all.... it's been a long while.

I am looking at maybe redoing the wiring harness for under the dash of my Scamp. Since I have removed the AC, will be moving my Pioneer head unit to the dash,and installing my aftermarket gauges. What is you guys thoughts? Should I go with a painless kit or a factory one that in $600? Or just make my own?

I should mention the reasoning behind this thought. The factory harness now is all kinds of a rats nest and random plugs and splices. (One of which was from my doing)
