I was about the leave driveway couple days ago and noticed a large package, I had not ordered anything, so I just left it alone thinking maybe someone would come looking for it .. last night I went and looked at it and its addressed to people that lived in my house 13 years ago .

So, now ,what to do ?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe one of them passed away and other is in nursing home but, don't know where its big but, light box

Contact UPS..

There are certain Scam deliveries going on sending something with no charge to your address.

The trick to it being a scam is there is no return address on the delivered package.

They use it as a fake sale, then give themselves positive reviews in hopes of suckering their next victims into buying their Chinese crap.

Amazon delivery did this to me 3 different times. Caught the last driver and told him to take it back, it's a scam. Look there is no return address.

He took it back, now end of problem.

I just gotta say, South Dakota is nothing like where I live... A large package sitting in the driveway doesn't last an hour around here... A couple days??? Do Andy Taylor & Barney Fife stop by to visit?

Few months ago there was a van following the Amazon delivery truck as soon as dropped picked up by a thief. One was driving and other jumped out to steal boxes.

Walmart delivered me some odd garage remote style batteries, 12 of them. 10 volt AA looking things. They had no record of me ordering them and I was never charged. Maybe you answered why! Weird stuff man.

Its prob some sort of scam if they have a name of who used to live there years ago
Some woman knocked on my door last summer asking if we had her mail. The wife ran her off quick she said " I sent it back to the post office your mail shouldnt be coming here weve lived here 20 years I dont know what youre trying to pull..." she shut up pretty quick because she started yammering on at me about it...

If it is addressed to you and you didn't order it, it's yours. If someone else's name is on it, it isn't yours and needs to go back to the shipper. Just like getting mail with someone else's name on the envelope and writing "not at this address." and returning it to the Post Office. What happens to it then, is their deal. You did the right thing.

I can't believe we are having this discussion. There is only 1 right way to handle this.

Open it, might be a keepsake/heirloom for the prev owners?? That's why I thought to try and find them. Ah well they're only old, I'd just run it over then.
I CAN believe we're discussing this lol:rolleyes:

UPS dropped off $5k of my parts at the wrong house and didn't even offer to go get them. They gave me the address and I hurried over there in a -25C snowstorm and took them off the front door step.

I had a complete NOS six pack and cam package dropped off at my door 2 days early (when I wasn't home) that was supposed to be C.O.D and signed for......Glad there were no porch pirates following that delivery.

They no longer live in area I don't believe, I think the man passed away ... he was sick when they sold the home and needed care, the lady has to be by now in here mid 80's if she is still alive .. can't locate either of them on net. the closest UPS center is about 55 miles away and is not open on weekends so, I am not able to take it there
