This one, while rather amusing to look at could have been a lot worse.

Driver said she heard a loud "Pop", the car stalled and would not re-start.

At first it was a mystery why the hood was so hard to open...

Lucky for her the cheesy replacement terminal melted in half before the battery blew up or started a fire.

Be safe out there.

I seen a truck on the side of the road last year just up the road from my house that had a battery flip in to the radiator because of this, yes it was a young gun and he just bout it and put a new battery in it, replaced the radiator, fan, and battery on his new used truck, I had some cables that worked on his chevy that came off my 3/4 tun dodge truck Creed pulled the engine out of foe my ramcharger
know he drives up my driveway and says hello when he has troubles with his truck.
He lives with his mother, no dad so he learned early in life at 19 years old :coffee2:

Good advice. It seems like every A-body I see for sale doesn't have the hold-down. Repro ones are only about $25.

Heard a pop when they closed the hood on a battery that wasn't made to fit that car.
That battery is too tall for that application, so a hold down wouldn't have mattered.
