Planning a set of used 2.71 gears for my Duster. Can't get them installed until spring.

So...how to best store them? Thin oil coating? Grease?

Sealed museum vault with zero moisture and 100% nitrogen atmosphere? :poke:

Spray with corrosion inhibitor, Corrosion Inhibitors for Metal | WD-40 Corrosion Inhibitor | WD-40 . Wrap it in a 3 mil trash bag, put foam or thin piece of wood in the bottom of a 10 gallon trash, can and put the center section in the can. It also helps to label them.

But seriously, this is GEARS, not a centersection. How do you store those?

Just gears? Don't clean them up unless they have surface rust. Just use the same lube and pop them in ziploc freezer bags. Find a box the ring and pinion will fit into and tuck it away.
