Eh. Don't use it to break in a new build. Use old headers. I got ceramic coated ones last time. Sick of grinding off primer, then painting, then watching them rust. Florida weather, and no garage..VHT header paint has gotten very Good reviews.

Much heat with a hydraulic roller break in ??The heat of cam break in will jack your paint. Run it in, then paint em
I also used it to restore the factory custom exhaust my 77 XLCR. Looks great. But I'm still running drag pipesThe process makes a difference. There are a couple versions of the paint and several videos on YouTube that document application. Search and watch. As stated you don’t want to break in a motor on fresh headers if you can avoid it. I’ve had good luck with it. I’m sure you will find those that say it sux.
I used the angle grinder w/ a light wire wheel on a pair about 14 years ago..... let em sit in the FL sun in summer half a day before painting. Then left em out in it for 2 weeksThe black stuff headers come painted with is only storage corrosion control, it will burn off. Once you get them broken in and nicely charred, remove them and brush them with a brass grill brush to get any flakes off em and then heat em up with a heat gun or BBQ to burn off any hand grease and paint them warm. Let them dry and then bake em on the BBQ for 30 minutes or install them and let it idle for 30 minutes. If they dont cure correctly, they wont last. I also found the VHT ceramicote paint comes off on your hands if its not cured (ie, installing) so wear rubber gloves when handling them uncured.
How much?Automotive Cerakote Protection and Coatings | Cerakote in Industry
if your going to all that work this stuff is 10 times better than VHT .
How much?
They’ve been using cerakote on firearms for years. It works well there. Didn’t know it could handle exhaust temps. It does require a baking/curing cycle.
also cerakote air dry, after sand blasting the headers, 1 summer and no sign of rust or peeling.
Only got this one...poor light but is shinny silver, super satisfied with the result ,i got enough paint to do headers and complete exhaust, and also 2 other pair of headers, look at caswell coating in ontario.do you have any pictures you could share ?
