Guys,

Occasionally when braking the steering wheel starts vibrating VERY bad like a wheel is getting ready to come off. If i let off the brakes and reapply the brakes it usually goes back to normal. It only rarely does it but sure scares the heck out of me. Manual brakes - front disk conversion from 73 up - big bolt pattern - power steering - front end rebuilt. The car drives great does not wander at all - brakes great too.

I have ruled out brakes rotors / ball joints tie rods.

I was thinking maybe steering column - rag joint or something

Anybody else had any symptoms like this and what was the problem?

Thanks, J

Most recent thread of similar condition turned out to be wheel bearings.

I had thought of wheel bearings also, will pull down and check - had my buddy resurface rotors to be sure not problem

Thanks for your input guys gives me something to look for
