Some of you may know I have put a good set of rear springs from a 72 Dart to replace
my 48 year old and broke rear spring (right side was broke ) and I added a 1966 Barracuda front sway bar To my 66 Valiant Sedan /6 ride
    And I love it
But now I would like to remove the air shocks and put a pair of good shocks on the rear to stable the rear for me.
My old computer is not doing well and I keep an eye on the forum on my phone now, so if anyone can stable the ride I sure would appreciate some guidance again :thumleft:

My wife said as soon as this dang rain moves out she will help me load up some new pictures
from her computer :D She sets and turns like a new model car now

She squatted hard in the second picture and I am thinking that was the day the small short spring unloaded on me :D

    Hi Memike,

Isn't that the way it goes. Fix one thing and then another goes out.

For the shocks, I've used Delco Pleasuriders (gas) and Monroe Gasmatics in the past. Either is fine by me, though I prefer the firmer Monroe. IIRC I got the Delco shocks from Rock Auto and the Monroes from Auto Zone. IMO, you can spend more, but the benefit difference won't be commensurate with the extra $s spent.

PS If you don't have gas shocks on the front, I recommend getting new front shocks to match the rear.

I replaced all four of my tired Monroe's with KYB Gas-A-Just and I'm quite pleased for the price. Got them from Rockauto.

I like the Monroe Matic Gas shocks. I've been driving them for over 30 years on my a-bodies.

I know that just suspension has them for about $20 per shock.

i have heard a lot of good things about KYB shocks but i have yet to figure out where they are made.

Thought I'd try to run down where Monroe shocks are made. Not easy to tell. Monroe is an American brand (sorry for the pun GFRR fans) and is a subsidiary of Tenneco. Tenneco owns Walker, Clevite, DynoMax, Thrush, and a few other brands as well. (2)

While searching around I found a video that, while it doesn't answer the question, does show and tell how Monroe makes shocks. I knew about the components of an automotive shock absorber, but had never understood how it was put together. (1)

Go on the Rancho site. They have a listing of their shocks by end and length. It takes a bit of research, but if you spend the time you will find an adjustable shock that will work on your application for a very reasonable price. Their shocks have a lot of adjustability. These are the same shocks that you would get from Calvert and we all know how well their stuff works. JMO

I thought I had the boxes in my trunk, but I only have the Rockauto ones. I'm fairly sure the set I received were made in Japan.

For what your doing Mike,a set of KYB's or Monroes will work just fine.
I have KYB's on both my cars. I take all the stickers off, and paint them satin black to match factory shocks. :)

Classic Industries offers "correct" factory style shocks. They also seem to stock a lot of KYB. Unless your feeling rich, I would think the rockauto or autozone ones will work.

They are probably all made in rice land and classic industries wants double or triple the price which is typical.

Another vote for the Monroe's. I replaced the original shocks on a slant six 66 Valiant with the Monroe's and they were good, best thing is they are very affordable.
I would like to drive a car with the KYB shocks to see how they are,

Do a google search for the best price Mike.
Ebay seemed pretty hard to beat, with free shipping, no tax.
