Using the newer electronic that looks like the original. I have the blue mopar unit for 69 and earlier but like the look of the original style. I have not started it up yet but got my fingers crossed!!

As long as it's an updated version you'll be fine

What is the updated version and how should it be wired? I seen the diagrams but seems everyone that did it like that had problems

Did some reading on the mopar voltage regulator and people are saying not to use it on a street car. Is this true?

I keep hearing that. I think it's bull. But you can get the 'same" regulator from standard / Blue streak NAPA NAPA is VR1001, Blue Streak is VR128

Dan the irritant had a big rant on here one time about how they don't regulate because they are not grounded. I'm not sure I got the point. If that is REALLY all that is different with the "race only" units, then all you need to do is scrape the paint off for the bolts

After all a regulator that does not regulate is "hardly a regulator"

That IS the job of a "voltage regulator"-------to regulate voltage!!!! They have not changed lead acid batteries just because they are in a race car

You need a heavy duty one with the Hemi alternator. The field draw is up to 7 amps.

VR32 is the bottom line, and certainly not made if you need one for a heavy amp draw field

Bosch part number comes up with nothing is that the correct number? For some reason no one has any of these regulators locally and can not cross reference them with others.

The Bosch units used on Porsche, BMW, and Volvo I am familiar with have internal regulator that is part part of the module for the field brush assembly. It is easily changed out with a couple screws. Bosch units also need a warning indicator bulb energized by the ignition switch, for them to regulate.

true, I swapped always Bosch into my US cars. There are pretty small Nippon Denso's on the market as well. All with internal regulators.
I have a buddy in Auto parts supply here. Will search for an external Bosch regulator since i have this HEMI Alternator to use....
