Ok Guys.... Sorry if it's been asked before but I couldn't find anything. I wanted to know what is the best intake to run on a W2 engine. The RPM will be from 2800 to 6800. Basically now a street car but driven hard. Don't know anything about them but I was told the Holley street Dominator was just about like the Strip Dominator except the water passages. The only other one I can fine at the moment is the Edelbrock Victor. Not too worried about lower RPM because it's got 4.88 gears and a 4500 stall converter. Basically from 2500-2800 would be the low end of the RPM range. I do have a Street Dominator but if you guys think the Edelbrock or Strip Dominator is better that I'll wait until I find one. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, internally the Holley W-2 Street Dominator is the same as a W-2 Strip Dominator, except for the added water heating. I ran both on a 360 W-2 Challenger race car I had years ago. I tried to compared them or the Holley to the Edelbrock, but I preferred the Holley based on the fact that the Holley versions have a shallower, smaller plenum, figuring it would provide more torque & power in my rpm range. I kept mine under 7,000 rpm also and ran a 2" 4-hole spacer.

Strip Dominator hands down, IMO. Why would anybody need or want manifold heat on something bad enough to have W2 heads on it? lol

Well since W2s have no heat crossover it really wont matter if they want one .

Oh ... you are refering to water passage . Don't think it will make a huge difference unless he is in AZ . Might help in noerthern climates.

I have St/Dom & the M1. The street version has a slightly narrower port in the plenum and is a clove red square flanged for the carb. The M1 has a wide open square for the carb. Both are water heated.

You would want a warmer plenum for the street. But it will some power in exchange for drivability. It’s a marginal difference. But there. The intake can be easily modified.

Because at the moment I have that Street Dominator manifold sitting right in front of me but yes I do agree with what you are saying.

I knew I would get straight up answers from you guys! Thank you! Much appreciated! Guess I'll run this Street Dominator for now.

No sir not yet. Pulled the engine apart a while back to change the heads and cam only to find a lot of metal shavings and the cam bearings destroyed in an engine with only about 500 miles on it. So another engine is at the machine shop getting prepped. This time a reputable machine shop who knows his stuff about small block Mopars. Should be back in a month and not long after that I'll be good to go.

I lost all my pictures of it when my one computer crashed but basically it’s the same type of work that I do to a Victor340. Good C7C4982F-00CD-4DFE-A5E6-B3C76886090A.jpeg 95E8D741-96F5-46B5-813F-600AE54DBF9C.jpeg gasket match, open the plenum base a little bigger, thin the vanes and shape, and radius everything in sight.

years ago, Brett welded up a Victor W2 for W5 stuff. Raised the runners, tons of work. Ran it and an Indy back to back. Indy just has more meat and potential.
He kept the Indy, sold me the Victor W2, ran it for years. Nice piece.

that intake is still in use. Was “ made” 17-18 years ago.
Its been 140 at 3220 on super stock springs

I was hoping to see what you did with the opening of the plenum . Did you compensate for the difference in base thickness between the front and the back ? Seams like fuel distribution would be uneven .
Did that make any sense to you ?

Honestly that was so long ago I don’t remember. I’m betting I ported 30 different intakes since I did that one. (Ford, Chevy, big and small block Mopar)
