Wanted, nice set of black seat belts for a 1974 Satellite, prefer one from a bucket seat car. Color must be black and in good condition. I think ones from a Charger will work, also 1973 might be the same too. The front and rear retractors don't always let the belt lose and sometimes you can't even put the belts on cause they lock up. Maybe they can be adjusted or just lubed up? Let me know what you have, thanks :glasses7:

73 would eliminate the crappy double retractor belts.
And make the upper belt optional to put on or leave it off and tuck it up in the holders mounted on the headliner.

I switched the belts in my 74 swinger cause the double retractors didn't work right cause the inertia part had gone bad and would lock up if you didn't very slowly pull it out.

One thing is if you switch to 73 you may want to change the rear door panels to 73s cause they wont have the cut out for the second retractor.
I am hunting for a set of rear panels for my dart to cover up the monster hole in the door panel left by the deleted retractor.

Thanks Emilio, didn't know 73 was that much different...i'll look into it a little more, I would like to keep the 74 belts then I guess.

you might? want to consider having a belt specialist (ssnake oyl for instance) redo your originals. have a local mopar restorer here who might? have some 71-74 B belts, they should have good chrome and metal parts but the webbings probably will be dried out.

I'm betting your belts are as nice as any you'll find used. That car is gorgeous & you've had it along time.....

I would remove them from the car, then pull the belts out of the retractors as far as possible. Use a clamp of some sort to keep the belts from retracting back into the housing. Soak them in a bucket of warm water with Simple Green or something similar for a couple hours. Rinse off & use some compressed air with an air blower attachment for the retractor mechanisms. Hang them up somewhere to air dry.....It's worth a try

Thanks for the info :glasses7:

Thanks...and you are right, my original ones are pretty nice, good chrome and buckles, not faded. I just found another thread here about how I can take them apart and clean and lube them up, lots of dirt, hair, crud can build up inside them and when cleaned they seem to work nice again. Thanks for the tip C :glasses7:
