That was my first thought too. When I first saw the photos the first thing I thought was that it needed a chop, but kept my mouth shut.

Maybe even a six head. Looks like something outta the movie Cars. The renderings have a chopped top

I didn't know Boyd had planned to chop it, or at least he did according to the renderings.
Nobody's with big money's going to want that thing with the original roof line.
It has a five-head and needs chopped in the worst way.
That should only set you back another couple hundred hours.
Not that hard, just takes forever & you'd be saying WTF have I gotten myself into. You can do it. Just keep making progress so you don't lose hope, like any project keep doing something.I wish I had the skills myself to finish this but that’s why it’s still exactly how it was when it left Boyd’s. I’ve got good mechanical skills but not so much on paint and finish work.
Heard Boyd treated everyone badly. Guess he died from Mojo. It’d be worth about $30,000. Boyd treated Chip Foose bad.
You don't have to do it like Boyd would've. I'd get it running and driving, put it on the road, doesn't need full interior at first buckets and gauges will do, and finish as you drive it and if you do sell it's easier to sell a running and driving car, get some fun out of it.I wish I had the skills myself to finish this but that’s why it’s still exactly how it was when it left Boyd’s. I had a friend in Indy that had one w/Poly-Head. Nice truck but poly was a rattler. Ran like that for years.Could sell the Hemi and put a 318 in it...![]()
I wonder what would be a bigger PITA (as a new owner): Going through that hemi, or asking questions on yet another 318 thread? I mean, the last few have gone over so well....Could sell the Hemi and put a 318 in it...![]()

Yeah just trying to have a laugh... but seriously with that panel van the OP would get a nice chunk of cash for the Hemi, then build the panel wagon with a small block and sell... that it could work out money wise.I wonder what would be a bigger PITA (as a new owner): Going through that hemi, or asking questions on yet another 318 thread? Anyway, I label you "pot stirrer", sir!

But you could tell the guys in the shop knew what they were doing, but you never got to see if Boyd could do F-all or if he was just a desk rider and 'Idea Man'. Seem to remember he didn't like to get dirty. But, I've never looked further back to see if he was capable @ one time. Foose worked for him and was his designer, while Boyd played Businessman, making wheels & going bankrupt. Then Foose left.I'm afraid you came to get answers but many in the FABO community had a really low opinion of and see no providence in anything by a jerk such as him.
Renderings are nice, liked orange/gray. Wheels like a almost a Halibrand ripoff design.Didn't notice if they're on it. They might be worth Bucks to a Boyd freak. Not bad looking renderings, there’s still a lot of work to be done to get it looking like those.

Sounds like a fun project. Try to find a windshield before you dive in. And rear door glass if they're not flat, door glass is flat, but make sure you have window regulators. Maybe they did electrics already. Other than that I didn't see much more missing. Rear doors may've been hung on to go, as dont look like they fit right. Somone said worth more running, they're right.I actually have another rendering of some custom one off rims that were to be made for it I’ll post it tonight. Thanks for the words of encouragement Woody!
I was concerned that my talent level doesn’t match that of any of the guys who worked on this in the past which is why it is exactly how it left Coddington hot rods. I have a 70 bee that the hemi would look real good in but hate to separate it at this point. The general mock up is complete, headers were on and clearanced for steering column both of which have been removed, so I do believe they were just starting to disassemble for paint, etc.
Looks like most the hard work is done, do the best you can and get it on the road and enjoy it, I wouldn't worry about getting it perfect, I'd start with doing the minimum to get it on the road and finish as I drive/enjoy it.I honestly don’t have the skills to complete at the same level as Coddingtons shop
