Follow- on... cleaning it all up and cruising today allowed for a better understanding of fluid weak points.

In a nutshell seems primary gaskets are showing their age. Head, oil pan, transmission fluid pan seem to be suspect. Some just getting moist up to drip forming but not actively dripping. Nothing hyper critical.

Adding to the winter work checklist

Over the weekend I fixed the Dart's charging system. Recently the ammeter was registering a slight drain with no movement as RPM's increased. I had rebuilt the alternator last October so I'm thinking its just worn out. I teed up a PowerMaster alternator on Summit but before pulling the trigger I opened the hood and began testing with my voltmeter and found the problem.
So how did I fix it? Simply plugged the green field wire back into the alternator. It had worked its way out and was hanging by a thread.

Last Monday after work I had an unexpected contact with a manhole cover. I had come over a slight rise and a railroad crossing, when I came over the rails and down my transmission pan slammed into the manhole cover. It is slightly elevated from the pavement, maybe an inch or so. Damned if the car didn't start to shake the crap out of itself. I was going slow, no more than about 25 mph. I pulled over and took a look under the car, nothing was leaking, no crunched headers, so I got back in and tried to drive it, was ok under 15 mph, but started shaking like hell at anything more. I limped it home on side streets and put it on the hoist.

Pretty much a direct hit on the trans pan, and somehow blew out one of the u-joint cups. Could have been a lot worse, I think I was lucky. Got a new u-joint put in tonight and it's back up and running again. Took a good long road test, smooth and solid again. Might have one more week or so to put some more miles on the old shitbox before I park it.

I got the clutch disk prepared the other day,I run an iron disk and they chatter until you ware the square edges off the pads. But if you dress the square edges on those pads before you use the disk it has no chatter...

Well I finally got the engine back in,I had to freshen up the carb.I changed the cam in the engine and put a smaller one in which took 8 degrees of intake duration out. So it needed to have some jet taken out.So everything is fresh once again.

I see you're running braided fuel line from the tank to the front. ...
I need to run new lines because I'm adding fuel injection and a pump in tank....
                            No problems running braided line?
                            Seems a little easier. ..

That fuel system has been on the car since the very early 90's.Not one problem with those lines, I've gone through 3 fuel pumps and not one problem with any of the lines.

Thanks,Ive owned it for 46 years.Every car I own is like the GTX.I like every part of the car to be a little over restored,it helps when I work on them it makes feel better when I have to do what ever repair they might need.I hate working on them, that's why I only buy the very best parts so maybe they might last a little longer so I won't have to fix anything:lol:

                                    Thanks!
I'll still have to run new hard brake lines, but the fuel lines will be easier!
I have to move my brake and fuel lines to install my subframe connectors. ......

                                    Are this bought connectors?

I build mine and only had to move the park brake cable

After the Us Car Tool connectors get a 25 roll of nickel copper brake line and run it on inside the rail.Still have to drill for e brake cable.1 roll of line will be enough to do all the lines and is super easy to work with

Finally got the backside of my trunk lid painted.I set up an old screen tent outside the garage and painted it in there.saved me wrapping the garage in plastic.Turned out decent and no bugs!!

I was thinking the same thing as diymirage. I installed USCT connectors on the Coronet and Dart and had to drill two oblong holes for the parking brake cable only.
