Had to buy new ones. Ain't putting the nasty ones back on. Besides Detroitmuscletechnologies.com is 2 miles down the road. I just knocked on the door. Yup back to working on the Kitchen table again. Demonx2 would be proud of me.

I disassembled the front suspension and steering on my Dodge Bros. car. That DB solid I-beam axle is quite a forging. I left the spindles in the axle because the kingpin bushings are fitted so nicely that I didn't want to disturb them. I'm pretty sure I can paint the axle OK with the spindles installed. I'm allocating one week to get these parts cleaned, sandblasted, painted, reassembled and back under the frame.

Took the Polara to a car show. Around 80 cars, and there were two old Power Wagons, one a '50, didn't get the year of the other. A good show for a little town. Sorry, no pictures.

Got the uppers installed today. I had to widen the keepers a bit to get them in.

Thanks to a thread on the board, I knew what to do with the tight gap.

I fixed a "rookie" screw up.

I recently bought some lighter distributor advance springs. Instead of pulling the distributor I took it apart while installed. Everything went well until I dropped a screw for the plate. Looked everywhere...then I dropped the other one :BangHead:. So I run the hardware store and picked up two 10-32 screws, put them in buttoned everything up,

Turn the key, Cranks and cranks...no start. Hmmm...check over everything and it looks good. Try again...no start.

Pull the distributor and found the shatf tang in the intermediate shaft :BangHead::BangHead:.

Found the crews I put in the plate were too long and wouldn't let the shaft spin!

So, my RockAuto shaft arrived yesterday. Today I took the shaft from the new one and used it along with everything else from the old distributor. Runs great now!!!

I finally got the Ford Edge temporary spare installed. I had to open the center hole up a bit. It is the same rim size and overall diameter as the tires on the car and it fits in the trunk well nicely

I put all the interior panels back in place after the stereo installation and started packing my tools and spares for the trip to Carlisle

Painting the front axle, rear engine support hoop, bell housing, steering rods, front leaf springs and some other small parts. Also, here's how the frame turned out after spraying it with black semi-gloss urethane single stage, and the Mighty Dodge's valve train, for all you DB **** freaks out there.

When I put it on an engine stand the oil was drained and filter removed, put a small oil filter back on and added 4 quarts of Rotella 30 wt, we spin it a bunch with no spark plugs, it stayed in my sons garage for the first 7 years, everytime I visited or he BBQ he would grab the brake over bare and give it and him some exercise, I got it back home and pulled the pan, was amazed how it looked, put my A body car pan on with a transmission, oil mix it it and started spinning here allot.
When I got the engine in the car with a starter I put an oil pressure gage on and (with no spark plug ) i work hit the mini starter an spun her long and fast, she rested that way two years with me doing that, then I dumped the oil transmission fluid mix and put 20 50 oil in her, I totally fired up like it never sat.

Cut a hole thrpugh the trunk to see the damaged crossmember better. Accidentally cut a bit into the crossmember as well, but that's luckily the easier thing to fix up.

The last owner fixed these oval holes with ******* epoxy filler. No wonder the shock came loose. My plan is now to cut this "check hole" a bit larger, fix the damage I made to crossmember, enlargen the oval holes and weld in a solid steel bushing I made today. In the images you can see it on a shock, that will be welded to the crossmember. Should be stronger than original

Pulling the 4.56 chunk out of the avatar car and putting in my new 4.10 chunk. Both have spools and 489 cases. Planning to run the Sportsman class - footbrake and 1/4 mile. Don't want to wind the 408 up there in the 6800+8rpm range. This may slow the car down a bit but for me, it gets back to what drag racing was meant to be. (Can you tell I'm old school???) And it's the thrill of competition that I don't see in such a short race as an 1/8th mile. And there's no way this foot brake racer can cut lights with a trans brake/delay box car!!

Will be interesting to see what the 4.10 does to the flash speed on the TC. With the 4.56, it flashes to 5000. We'll see....

Here's the new 4.10 chunk and the 35-spline Moser axles I pulled out. Will work on getting the 4.56 out tomorrow.
