Hi all, I've been asked to come up with a motor build suggestion for a friend who currently runs a 3700lb B body brkt car with a mild 440, wants to run 10.50's next year in the class, car has 4.10's and 727 with SS springs and single adj rear shocks, 275 radials, car has good fuel pump etc. etc......my suggestion>

505/512 440 based motor, needs honest 650fwhp
TF270 heads, 343cfm@.600, he wants a quench motor, I think 10.8>11.1CR on our pump gas 98>99oct would work ok.
Stroker kit?...Eagle/Scat/Molnar/440source etc.?, I prefer a Molnar kit, which pistons?
I've picked a cam for him, HUG STL6064BS3-8 260/264@.050 .615/.621 or
HUG STL6468BS3-8, 264/268@.050, .621/632" ...SFT
he's not a solid roller fan...
Harland Sharp S70015KE 1.5 ratio for TF heads..
Mopar 337 intake from Jegs?, Super Victor/TF int., 440-2? currently no scoop on the car, would think he would fit one if necessary, he runs a 950HP DP carb., I suggest a 1050 Dom.
2" hdrs, built converter 4500 stall min.
He doesn't want to turn a motor more than 6500ish, he also drives on the street a lot to shows etc. on the 275's. I suggested going to a 29" radial slick+dble adjustables.
I personally think this is quite a mild set up but its convincing him of that.
...there are many other ways/choices for sure but it has to be RB based (probably stock block) as far as I know as money isn't limitless...what are your opinions on this?

Yes that should work. We just finished up an engine like that for a hot street/strip car and it made 710 hp on the dyno. It was a 508 with Molnar crank and rods, Diamond pistons, 10:1 compression, Comp street roller cam, TF 270 heads and a ported 440-2 intake. We used a Holley Sniper fuel injection kit. Made 710 hp on pump gas with 2 inch headers. It does take some money to put these engines together. I think the total bill was around $15,000 for the 508. The parts are expensive and there is a lot of labor for the precision machining and assembly. When you're making 700 hp in a stock block everything has to be just right or else it won't stay together.

update> Well my mate had a huge result over the weekend@SPR at our Mopar Nats. I gave him a gentle push to go and talk to a guy who runs a speed shop over here, Mopar Man and a racer as well, just happened to have for sale a complete mild 589ci 10:1 wedge motor, pro-built, with 572-13's, street roller cam, jesel rockers, MP Block etc etc, hands were shaken at a price where you could perhaps buy the block/heads for.:)

dear HOT
you loose me when you include Eagle
everything else looks ok but I would send all the head flows to Mike Jones for a cam
