A new choke thermostat costs more than I paid for the Thermoquad carburetor I bought (and I live in a warmer climate). If I change my 72 318 from 2 barrel to factory 4 barrel (correct 72 factory intake and factory Thermoquad) if I do not install a choke thermostat, will the choke stick open or stick closed? If it sticks open, will the secondaries function properly? Thank you.

The choke thermostat applies pressure to the choke when cold and releases it as it warms up. If you have none the choke will just flop around with a default position of open. The fast idle cam will not apply so secondary operation should not be affected. I would secure the choke linkage in the open position if no thermostat is present.

Ditto.
