What Is This Lift Called?

-
Thanks everyone, for the info. I had no idea how expensive they are! It's back to the ol' jack and jack stands for me...
Well just remember, don't buy a lift based on price. That's gonna be you and maybe someone else that the car falls on and mashes all to hell.

It is rather disheartening that even the C products are priced so high. Keep your eyes open for a decent used lift that fits your needs;)

I just priced out my Bendpak HD9 4 post lift w/sliding air/hydraulic bridge jack. It was $5k Cdn when I bought it circa 2010 (about $3.5k USD) and is $10k now! I wouldn't be working on cars without it but can't imagine buying one today.

I must say, HOWEVER, after I got my first maxjax lift in 2010, which is still in use, I felt so professional, a step up from the barbaric use of jacks n jackstands, not having to use a creeper, or it's just rare that I do, oh, I don't have a creeper, but I have a seat creeper. Recently, I was using jack stands, forgot about one and nailed it with my right shinbone, 2 scars and just lucky I didn't fall:( I fabricated up some jackstand racks a long time ago to get the darned things off the ground, less clutter around the floor and that is so beneficial to unclutter the walkways. I do have 3 floor jacks varying in size, but they're there if I need one.
I hope you keep looking, perhaps sell something to help get you into a decent lift. You will want to be in your garage even more so

I still get terrible flashbacks from installing a TTI exhaust system with the car on jack stands. My neck hurts too.

oh, I totally understand that ! I hurt my back 30 years ago, and I'm darned sure the lifts have saved me!!! See, add just the reasons why you would want a lift, not to put hell in your head

This was another "lift" I had for a short while, useful but kind of a pain in the buttocks. I at least got what I paid for it, 900bucks.
I was quite creative with it ;)

I've been rather bored out of my mind, it's cold outside, so I've been surfing FB marketplace! lol I know it's probably far away, but just looking what's out there.

Ugh, grrr, Speed Thrills not barbaric. Me caveman. Have full set Ford Tools. (Hammers) :poke:

My garage was built 21 years ago when we had our house built. A lift wasn't even on my radar. Ceilings are 9', and it's 24 X 24. I can't put anything anywhere without moving 3 other things. lol There's 2 cars in it. Neither of them stay outside. I thought I had it covered when I had the contractor run a natural gas line out there, and I insulated it and installed a Mr. Heater. (Which is great!)

I'm 66. Since 60, it's been downhill! It's hard to do anything under a car now. I use the "If I don't use it, I'll lose it" mantra. If I only knew then what I know now.

BTW, your shop looks great! I'm jealous!

Maybe I shouldn't have use the descriptive word "Barbaric", but for me, it's tough on the knees, neck and I'm just trying to preserve my 70y/0 body for future stuff.
BTW, thank you for the compliment on my shop~ it's my fun place, just need a sofa out there;) omg, heat would be great!!! I just have to wait until it warms up;)

new then what I know now, radiant heat in the floor would have been the way to go.

When we first moved out here in 2002, I was looking at some heavy duty alignment racks. As in 30K to 45K pound units. They were all between 6500-9500 bucks. I should have gotten one THEN.

Another +1 for MaxJax. Have had mine for years and built my entire car on it. Got it through Jegs with a bunch of discount coupons and reward points.

Does that one bolt down? Looks like there are wheels like it's meant to be portable. I'm wondering how the side posts wouldn't tip inward with a car in the air.

It has 5 bolts for each column, each column weighs in at 300lbs each, and yes when unbolted, just roll the columns where you want them until next use, or just leavem up. I'm using epoxy anchors vs the mechanical type. There's a write up about the physics/geometry how they hold up. I can't explain it, but I've had my past Ram truck on it, still amazed, but I do use jack stands for safety and to balance the load.

:rofl::rofl:
I built my garage in 2013 when we bought this house. I specifically went with 10 ft ceiling, wanted to go 14 ft but city bylaws nixed that idea. It's 24x30 and currently holds 4 cars, 1976 Pontiac Ventura at the back under the cover, 1989 Thunderbird super coupe against the wall, 1997 Thunderbird LX daily driver in the center, and wife's 2008 Ford Escape on the south side.
I move the MaxJax columns and power unit to the back wall behind the Ventura for the winter months, and basically rearrange the remaining 'stuff' to make enough space to get it all in. It is very tight, but it works and I can still get at my toolbox and have a floor jack and stands plus a pair of ramps if I absolutely have to do something. I even have a space for my snowblower!

you are just way to organized! either that, or I just have too much "stuff"!

I've been doing this almost every fall since 2013, so I'm getting a little better at it, plus I have a 30x8 space in the attic to store other 'stuff' and I have been working hard to not accumulate any more unnecessary 'stuff', with some degree of success. It sucks sometimes to not have the use of my lift, but I don't have heat in the garage so I don't want to spend too much time out there during the winter.

I have my Duster and 87 Mustang in mine. I’m kinda glad that’s all that will fit. It’s keeps the herd from getting too big! Years ago, I would buy and sell all the time. Few of them got done. I bought the Mustang new, and the Duster in 2008. They’re in my will. :)
I can’t imagine not having heat where you live.

Ugh, grumble, Speed Thrills gets it. :) (Especially the knees, shoulders, and a lot of other stuff!)
My wife’s space is the house, mine is the garage. She always knows where I am! I don’t have room for a sofa, but I have a soft chair. I’ve been known to catch a nap or two there.

You gotta have heat! I need it November til April here. I’d never get anything done without it.

Alignment rack. I wish I had the room for one. I was an alignment guy for many years. And now I can't find anybody that can do an alignment who's worth a damn

Cold? I didn't think Texas got cold. Try Chicago.
