This is mounted on the fire wall in the cowl duct. The wire harness was not hooked up and what appears to be a vacuum line fitting had no hose connected to it. So what is it? Is it necessary or can I fill the hole that is in the cowl when I remove it?

Is that the thingy that lights up your left turn signal when you are in the throttle to far?

Low vacumn " poor fuel consumption" warning I remember seeing on mid 1970's cars.

Isnt that normal for a 70's car?

Are you serious though? I assumed it had to do with the A/C

I don't know what it is but could it be a windshield spray relay?

This car has the foot pump so I dont believe that is correct. Also on this piece when you remove it there is what appears to be a high temp relay/fuse(like what is used on dryers or unit heaters). That is the piece that actually goes into the cowl area

Speaking of the fuel warning, my wife drove my buddies Cordoba one night, and came back complaining to him that the signal light kept flashing...guess she had her foot in it most of the time :burnout:

I don't know what it's called but the vacuum lines run through it.
Looking for a pic and description right now.
Problem is, they looked different for different years.

What your describing here sound like a blower relay to me. Aftermarket maybe? Was there ever a aftermarket a/c ever on the car?

No doubt you can remove it......not hooked to anything now....lol. It is curious though. I briefly had a 71' Scamp w/fact a/c and i don't remember anything like that? I was 30+ years ago though :D. You might be able to check a wiring diagram if you can figure out what wires might have gone to it. A picture with it removed may give a better clue also?

I've been following this because I have the same thing on my '71 Swinger. It's factory. Doesn't connect to anything so I'm at a loss. Oldman Rick is right, Someone with a '71 Service Manual should be able to tell us what it is.
