What is this?

Can anyone help me identify this linkage coming off the steering column? It is hanging freely, not connected at the other end.

340 dart with automatic transmission.

Wasn't that some sort of safety lockout? Can't remember exactly what it's called.

That linkage is supposed to mate up with the trans linkage. Trans has to be in park before you can get key lock cylinder all the way back to remove keys from switch.
