I was thinking more of a "Real Time" reading. Like when you open the secondaries of your Thermoquad.

Oh I understand that completely, I was just giving MopaR&D a tip on mpg tracking.

I have a 75 Scamp that I plan on doing a full efi 5.9 Magnum swap on, including the fuel pump, rearend, od trans, gauge cluster, hvac from the ram. And while I’m doing all that, I’ll also probably utilize the readout display on the ceiling as well.

No harm. I was just thinking something everyone on here has thought at some point after they've "cleaned out the carbon".

I put the XV racing shoulder harness ones I mine. They use the original bolt holes.

think i'm going to try a shoulder / lap system in my next project.
    As for the wish lists..
instead of A/C and power windows maybe white or pearl interior will keep you cool enough
instead of O/D try 2.94 gears and a 904 with the 1st and 2nd gears from a lock up piece for mpg
also for better mileage and a strong launch a short duration stock style cam will help
for better chassis stock mopar upgrades with bars, springs, shocks and radial tires will help some
stock disc front and rear drum are fine if in good repair..rear discs will not be a big gain.
If you're not a quarter miler a quieter stock style exhaust and 2.94 or 3.23 gears are cruising pleasure.
But there's no denying it...like everyone else the new vehicles have me spoiled! My stock 340 is probably 275 hp and there are minivans with over 300hp.My friends Grand Cherokee Jeep is 485 hp..sheeesh!

My personal, long term plan for my 72 Duster will include, but not be limited to, 485hp 6.4 Hemi (if I get bored I’ll supercharge it lol), 6 speed manual transmission, power rack and pinion steering, power windows and locks, leather interior with full new Challenger dash or custom dash, custom console with cup holders and the switches for the windows and locks, good sound system, 255+ or 275+ tires all around, 18” wheels, 14” SRT Brembo brakes, coil overs front and rear, tinted windows, sound deadening everywhere and added lighting in the interior as well. But I’m sure there’ll be more. Now I wait to win the lottery. :D

My car has pretty much everything on your list. It's taken me 10 years a truck loads of money.... but set a goal and push on. I built the car in an attached 2 car garage. So anyone can do it.

Yeah I’ve had my car for 5 years now and hasn’t just a whole lot changed on it. When I get ready to do all that cool stuff I’ll more than likely buy a wrecked SRT or ScatPack and strip it and use as much stuff as I can in my Duster. Still gonna be a buttload of time and money.

Make sure you take lots of photos and post a thread when you do that!! I'd like to see how it works. @TrailBeast did a power door lock thread a while back I'm gonna try it on mine I have the mechanisms from Ebay. I'd like to see the trunk popper too!
As for me I'd like to eventually have AC, more modern suspension and brakes, and overdrive so I can take the interstate on long trips.

I was talking to Keith at Mopars In The Park last weekend about this topic as we both have early Valiants and new Challengers. Drive a good looking classic new car with all the goodies daily and the oldies for cruises etc. There were 150+ new Challengers at the show. This should stir the pot............................................

Some of em had the "econo-gauge" on it
Basically a vacuum gauge whose needle went from green to red, based on engine vacuum

I got my remote key fob and receiver/relay for my remote trunk release. I'll have to tell you all how it works.

I'd love a new Challenger as a driver. I don't think they belong at shows with actual classic cars though... kind of dilutes things, you can go into a Dodge dealership and see the same cars.

The area at Mopars in the Park for new Challengers looked like a dealers back lot. Close to 200 at the show. Glad I chose not to bring mine.

How about something simple like a idle solenoid. My dealer installed a/c didn't come with one. Another thing it didn't come with is a larger radiator. :BangHead::BangHead:

I had a '76 Dart with the passenger side fender mount turn signal indicator that would light up when you had your foot in it. Some GM products had three lights on the drivers fender edge. Red, yellow and green. Rumors have it that GM dropped that feature due to it being a driver distraction.

My '63 Pontiac Grand Prix and two lights on the dash to indicate coolant temp, a green light when coolant was cold and a red light when coolant was hot, otherwise both lights out during normal driving conditions once thermostat opened.

I got the remote in and thought I would hook it up and make it work on the table before installing it. Thanks to Google and You tube for wiring instructions. Here's a quick video.

After reading most of the post there are some pretty cool options that can be added.

Be true to why you have your old car. If your someone trying to "Remember When" Thinking back to what it was like.

I remember clearly getting into my 69 Corronet R/T on a 90 degree day. Manual steering, 4spd., drum brakes,

Once I fired that car up I don't remember any one ever asking. What amenities were available ?

The only thing that I thought it should have was better brakes and tires.

Crackedback builds very nice plug and play headlight relay kits. Because they get their main power from under the hood instead of through the bulkhead to the headlight switch and back through the bulkhead, the headlights are very bright and the system is a lot safer because of the reduced load. This is the first I saw this kit. Does this system allow for the use of newer head lights with Halo lamps?
